Want to get rid of the tape player single din out of my late 02 c230 k coupe and have been looking at getting leads that don't work, some people cut wires.
i have a head unit already to put in but unsure what connections i need, there is a few different ones and some you have to cut.
don't want to buy the wrong cable for my car or do something wrong
also would I be better with a better merc head unit instead of an aftermarket

Halfords stock just about every adapter made, for any car radio to any car.

Do not cut the plugs as it will never be the same again

I read somewhere about buying that it still wouldn't work and I would lose the sub, amp and controls on steering wheel

If you have Bose then you lose all that with any upgrade, some radios will work on the steering wheel interface, but nor sound system as they are optic coupled

OK you could out the CD changer and fit a MP40 card reader that will work with the cars amp and controls

Your car will have ISO connectors on the rear. If you have the Bose sound upgrade then additional parts will be needed but if not the aftermarket unit you buy should come with an ISO to head unit lead so its plag and play almost.

If you have Bose...it will say so somewhere...so you may not.

The Bose emblems are on the speaker covers if Bose is fitted

You will need a fascia adapter so the unit sits nicely in the dash. If you go for say an Alpine then it will have the necessary Apline to ISO lead in the box. All you might need is an aerial converter but these are pennies. your existing dash has a double din hole behind that audio-10 and trinket holder. The head unit should come with the necessary fitting cage aswell.

If you want to add steering wheel control to the headunit then you will need an additional part which costs around £50.

well iso connections just arrived and looking at it the wires, they are the same one side to the other. they don't change. so since I have already tried the aftermarket head unit with the original connections and it didn't work I guess its the wrong one or I am doing something wrong

all fitted.
I used original iso and added the live wire from lighter and job done.
Sending the iso I just bought back because its a rip off selling a cable stating I need it to run a unit that is the same as the one in the car.
