Strange sound in the engine?

Hi all. I'm the owner of a Mercedes for a week.
I noticed that when they turn on the oil cap can hear a strange sound from inside engine. I guess with so come on these engines.
I'll add the video where it is. so from 14 seconds unscrew the cap and the sound.

Sounds very much like a flogging timing chain but why only with cap off is strange. Certainly needs attention before major damage occurs.

Something hitting the rocker cover, most odd, will this be the 271 engine

may think that this is a normal sound?
maybe something is wrong..
afraid of repair, because it probably is not cheap?

If the car is running OK then there should be no worries,,I have just never heard that sound before

if something was wrong with the engine or let the computer display ?

Many faults would put up something in the display, you cannot hear this with the cap on, In just do not know on this engine.

Hopefully one of the techies may see the thread

Sounds to me like something hitting the rocker cover, a sort of hollow ringing sound, what could it be, maybe a tool or the like left in there? must be worth lifting the cover for an inspection.

I wonder if with someone who has such a car is also sound.

Hi, I was not trying to be funny, it has happened before when a tool has been forgotten and left in or on the engine. It is an easy job to remove the top cover and have a look for something loose.

I got the car a week. dealer gave me 3 months warranty. the only question is whether it covers the warranty .. what if there any that fell into the engine probably already blown away.

As Diyman so easy to take the rocker cover off and look,,,or go and ask where you bought it

The noise doesn't sound like metal-on-metal to me. But don't know what it is.

I do know that it shouldn't make it, though.

And if you've only had the car a week, you must definitely take it back to them ASAP.

I would start by taking it back to the garage, and ask them what's going on.

If you get evasive answers, or it turns out to be serious, then is the time to start talking refund.

Yes, providing it's serious enough. You have to give the dealer a chance to remedy the problem first, but if he can't in a reasonable time, then reject the car for a refund.

Seriously something Is under rocker cover.

Check cover gasket if looks fresh that will indicate that it's replaced and something is left there.

Speak urgently with dealer where you bought the car from. Say it's to danger to drive as engine damage might occur(hope not damaged yet). Ask them for repair or get full refund, don't break with theirs sweet promises just get it done right NOW

Other way if u have mechanical knowledge get cover and see what toys are hidden there but make sure they will pay for parts and repairs. Also make sure you won't drive car because it could be engine last journey

Ps it is too early to blame Mercedes-Benz for human mistake

It's not metal on metal, it sounds like exhaust by blow from somewhere.

Is the car using oil?

The computer shows that the oil is fine. but will do so with the seller and I go to tell what the situation is.
