How do I tell how old my consumer battery is ? I haven't had any problems with it yet, (I keep it on a trickle charger), but would like to know how much life it has left in it. Is there a code or part number that will tell me how old it is ? It is an original Mercedes AGM battery.

I believe the car has never been outside the Dealer network, so could MB tell me when it was fitted ?

Thanks all

On top of one ofmthe battery terminals there will be a date stamped on it

I.e 42 06

Which would mean the battery was made the 42nd week of 2006

Hope this helps

There will be a date on it but they should be good for 10 years or more, my 2002 battery is still fine and I am using it as the only battery in my CL420.

The fact you keep it charged is the best one can do

OK ive had a look. On top of the negative terminal, I can see 09 04 faintly stamped, meaning the battery was manufactured in last week of February 2004. The car was delivered on 27th February 2004 according to the data card, and first registered in July 2004, so I guess this is still the original battery. Time to consider a new one at some point then.

You will get loads of warnings when its ready to change it,,,you are safer than most as you have the separate starter battery up front :D

Hi, what sort of warnings would you get if the battery was on its way out,

In the case of the 230 the consumer off line would be showing after every start
