W211 reversing lights

I find the reversing lights next to useless on my MB compared to the GM Astra, I don't think I can do anything to make an improvement since they are in the rear HiP cluster.

In the old days I could have fitted an additional light wired via the gearbox switch but not so simple on these magic lantern machines now.

Any ideas out there apart from my other half with a torch

Which Astra?
Are reverse lights to see where you're going, or to let others know that you're reversing? I don't remember my Astra G's reverse lights being any better than those on my Omega or R Class

I fitted a reversing camera via my head unit works well in low light (which is what you get from the reversing lights!)

Astra 'H' they are quite good.

How about the cheapest/easiest route first? ...... fit new lamps, & see (ha ha ) how you get on. Lamps (you plant bulbs in the garden in spring ) tend to darken with age.
