Hi,
Just some advice before I dive right in.
Haven't used car for a week, having left it with no bearing noise or wheel vibration etc... Come to drive car and it sounds like bearing is completely shot, loud whining/droning with vibration, eases bit when cornering left, maybe even a bit of grinding noise in there somewhere!sounds like Right front (passgr) wheel. Could it be anything else?? In my experience bearings wear over time (and many miles) and get progressively worse. This was instant!!! Would it have seized?
Thanks in advance

Jack the wheel and rotate it and you could feel any roughness in the bearing, just that slight vibration as you turn it

Or it could be park brake shoes? It's unlikely a bearing has failed so suddenly

Both had real parking brakes. Sensational cars. There is no finer parking brake than a foot operated Mercedes Benz one :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Well they called me to say they needed the 212 back, it was recalled for safety reasons. I said I liked the car very much and was reluctant to give it back, so they said we can give you a CLS with a bigger engine so I said aye and the CLS was amazing.

The parking brakes work fine, the ratched mechanism breaks but its just there to make a noise, and its better when its silent, less cheap sounding. I stop the car, apply the parking brake, then put the car into N and the parking brake will take the weight of the car, slide into P and there is no crude rocking back and forth, never let a car be held by the Parking pual, let the parking brake take the weight.

Well there we are, my SL and my CL will not hold the car in Lyme Regis High street, so I never bother to use it, just the parking pawl :D

Push it in harder. It should. Oh, you can't on the electric ones....

Here is the shed on a day she didn't break down, parked on the Hardknott pass, britains steepest road, held on parking brake
