if I get round to it I may mechanical polish the rims on my 18" alloys but we will see what I can get done

Remove and replace (maybe) 81 300D transmission
Check the lh 1/2 shaft on the W639 (yes it is bent!)

Well, windscreen was replaced yesterday and brake wear warning light has come on sporadically this week! Cannot source a wear indicator from anywhere apart from GSF who are closed on Sun morning so pad change may have to be done next week! hope I have enough miles in worn set to get to work and back for a couple of days so I don't ruin the disc as well!

You have 1000 miles on average to replace the pads Martin It is also good fun trying driving by hardly using them

Thanks Malcolm! Was hoping for a bit of leeway on that. Now driving a lot slower to work and using engine braking has produced a figure of 54.3mpg the other morning! just takes longer to get there!

I just did a quick search for "plastic fuel pipes" and there are loads of firms that sell kits for this, all in approved plastic, this would mean no sub frame coming down

well, it started with a damn good clean of the E class, not been done due to bad weather.
Then, wife's new shopping car.........1998 Micra!!!! Still, it keeps the MB from being used so I didn't disagree too much.........HOWEVER.........

She bought the car..............NOT ME!!! ok......

So......we find rust on the o/s outer sill........

she goes off to next door, comes back with good news!!!!!!

It's ok she says......Fred's got a welder you can borrow, you can get your hands dirty, it'll give you something to do.

Now, the last time i welded a car, it was the wife's '73 Mini, that was years ago......seems she has forgotten i am getting old..........bless.

So, guess what i am doing over the next few weekends then! lol
