When the engine is off my W212 steering is very tight. As a result I have not tried forcing the wheel around to see if there a steering lock will engage.

Is there a steering lock on the E250 W212?

I think they were stopped some time back, I never had one on my SL and do not have one on my CL

You can hear when you put the key in,, if a lock you will hear it go off as the key is inserted

I know there'll be a reasonable answer ....... but what's the connection between steering locks & an auto box ....  :)

Probably if the shift is on the steering column no room for it.

Or maybe no one wants to steal a car with the 7g box

Actually, it is something I've thought about, but never done anything about finding out about. ;) ;) I know that f I turn my ignition off while still in Drive, the gearbox will automatically go into Park.

I could have checked but the other computer has gone to bed, my CL does not have one and I have the 7g box

I'll trust you ...... I just know that my gearbox will try if I do the same!:lol:

Apparently the autobox on my Omega won't shift into 1st if I try it at 100mph (on my private track ) but I've never tested it!:rolleyes:
