TWO SHADES OF YELLOW

Hi all, Well when I bought the car I was told the cars bonnet was a bit faded and when I looked at it a didn't think there was much of a difference until I got home and thought I would just get the bonnet resprayed. Well that was the plan until I was out at the other car and looked across at the coupe and saw no difference to the paint on the drives side to the bonnet? strange? so I went round the other side of the car and right away saw the difference in colour of the passanger side of the car to the bonnet and drivers side.

what is going on?

I would have said that has been re painted, easily checked with a paint thickness gauge

There are issues with MB yellow codes.
When mine first went in to the body shop it was believed to be Porsche Speed Yellow, the body shop checked and found it was in fact an Aston Martin yellow.
The difference would only be marginal but certainly visible to the naked eye on adjoining panels.

It could be that the bonnet's been painted and probably the o/s/f wing too and the wing's been blended into the side

surly if they went to that much trouble to blend it in, they would have done the other side also?. the whole passenger side and bumper is a lot darker than the bonnet and whole side of the drivers side.

along with the front bumper, but the bonnet vent is also the darker yellow of the passenger side. its like flip paint.lol

It shouldn't be too expensive even if you had the front of the car resprayed. IIRC I paid a couple of hundred quid to have my bonnet sprayed a couple of years ago (but I had the screen washers filled in at the same time)

I've been following this on the other Mercedes forum.
You will need to get a Bodyshop to view the and find out which panels have been painted first then you will be able to see what you need to correct.

I would leave it,,, I think the cost will be too much for another body shop may not be able to match either of the colours, it could cost more than its worth.

Yes we have had reports of this colour before and the same problem with one of the blueish silvers

Cant leave it because it bugging me. Even if I get it blended in on the passenger side I will be happy. It needs the rear arches painted also because it has rust coming through so can get that done at the same time

..... it could cost more than its worth. ....

but a car's value isn't just what its trade in value is. I've spent the trade in price & some on my Omega on just paintwork over the past few years ....... because I still like it - if only I could get its keys out of EmilysMum's handbag now that she's started to use it more. :lol::lol:

But don't take it anywhere they have yellow cabs or all sorts will get in ...

I know, lucky its a coupe or someone would jump in the back.
Its well worth spending the cash with low miles. I just rebuilt my gallant estate costing me nearly £1000 with it only worth £1100 trade in but it was good to get it up and running again and going to keep it to go fishing, camping etc
