Hi All,

Happy New Year!

I have my car booked into my local specialist - Star Motors in Reading for tomorrow.

However the car is now stuck in 2nd gear and the engine management light is on.

I will call the AA tomorrow and they will then take me to my destination (even from my drive, I hope - I have home start)

Question, will they lift my car there or tow it?

tell them the car has been lowered and will not go on a tow trailer and that it needs a flat bed. Not a fan of towing as I think it can put stress onto the frame/chassis etc. Be firm with them. Tell them no point sending someone out to try to fix and that it needs a recovery.

I guess a lowloader is the van when you drive on right?

If so that should be fine, I think?

The car is in 2nd gear.

Damn! The car would normally get stuck and I could switch it off and on and then be fine!

I would say lift auto and rwd isn't really a tow ( unless nothing else possible) , but you will probably have the try and fix it carry on, the 2 occasions my lotus Elise has broken down ( radiator and hgf) the still send the repair van as it needs to be confirmed...queue bloke arriving having already phoned for the lad with the recovery vehicle :)

automatic cars and towing is a big no. It'll go onto a flat bed. Three times my E class broke down flat beds came to the rescue....

depends how far & how fast. ;)
My hand book says a max of [STRIKE]50km[/STRIKE] 30miles at a max speed of [STRIKE]50kph[/STRIKE] 30mph :) (Similar for my vauxhall)

Exactly, you can tow for 30 miles at 30mph and all fine, they will probably lift it on a flat bed

all MB sold..V70R now ;-)
flatbed job takes all the risk and stress out of the picture....you will probably still get a van sent round to check though......when i called the RAC to say the cambelt had snapped and also lost all the power steering fluid all over the M27 they still sent a van out...RAC guy to one look at it and said better get a truck:lol:...he thought it was daft too but said he wasnt busy:lol:
