perhaps a silly question but where do i get replacement wipers for the car and more importantly how do i replace them, they don't look anything like the ones i've had on all previous cars (clip on), but instead are like long strips of rubber,

are they easy to replace ?

Yes dead easy they just come off the pegs on the arms, known as aero blades.

The Valeo versions are very good.

It tells you in your handbook how to change them

they are ever so easy to replace, and from memory they also just clip in/push in. I bought mine from halfords although that was only because i was buying a few things from there and there was an offer on wiper blades.

I replaced using Bosch wipers... but they squeaked after a while.
So I went to the dealer... little more expensive, I paid £32.. but so far they are completely silent on the screen, and the best replacement pair I have used.

Very easy to replace...

- Turn the key to position 1 or 2
- Turn on the wipers, and when they are vertical on the screen, switch off the car.
- Lift them up off the screen, then you'll be able to turn the blades 90 degrees away from the glass, and then they just pull off the peg.
- Put on the new blades, turn them back towards the screen, then back down onto the glass.

About 2 minutes :)

For people in the UK Halfords do sell some good blades cheap, I have done well there too in the past :D

The advantage with this type of fitting is that you do not have to pull the arm back as far as you do with the old system, the system is much quieter as less moving parts.

I fine cutting paste is all T cut is, you cannot damage the glass, haze remover something like that will do the job.

You must be friendly now with a body works  ask them for a little polishing compound

well even though they fixed my car i'm not friends with them, they are just a dealership,

still i guess i can try and ask around, i've tried window cleaner and it didn't help, i'll take a good look in my outhouse this weekend and see what i can find, would 'lack knafta' help ? (paint thinner ?)

Läck knafta (turps) has no abrasive qualities, window cleaner could make the problem worse, it made mine worse last week and I used T cut. Shall I post you a little tin

I too have the Bosch and shan't be buying them again. They used to make a queer noise and are scratched to buggery (totally clean screen). I intend on buying from Mercedes directly next time. Or maybe Halfords as television suggests.
