Currently have a snap 18v battery gun but its getting tired now and wont undo sone wheel nuts or crank bolts , so im looking at my options , replace with another bigger rated battery gun OR a comp air gun as i have a compressor ?? Any thoughts or opinions , what are you using ? Do you rate it ??

I have a Ryobi battery electric gun rated at 400Nm. Not overly expensive and works well.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
Battery
Milwaukee 1/2 28v M2 x 6 batteries
Snap On 3/8 14v Compact x 2 batteries
Snap On 3/8 14v Ratchet x 2 batteries

Air Stuff
Blue point 3/8 1/2 3/4 air guns
Snap On Air chisel/hammer

Tried most of the rest out there over the years
but keep coming back to the above faithfuls.

Milwaukee have longevity problems with their 28v batteries
but its such a great tool with wrist breaking torque it stays.

Ok good stuff guys
On the comp air side
What compressor are you using to run your gun , is there a minimum sized comp id need to run a decent torque rated gun

Only other thing to keep in mind is the battery is mobile. Many times I have used mine to remove wheels far from the compressor.

We have a few Milwaukee a work. They'e very impressive for relatively small gun ..... they're frequently asked to tighten a bucket full of M20 bolts

I've the same,
picked it up for £72,
2x 4Ahr batteries for £42,
charger for less than £20.

I've got a fair bit of Ryobi now so I bought extra batteries and a charger.
Even Larisa has her own Ryobi, the garden strimmer.
We have loads too. Couple of hedge trimmers, drills, saws, grinder. Very pleased with the kit so far.

Mainly Mercedes
I am a bit old school, and still use compressed air in my workshop. For years I favoured Chicago Pneumatic for my 1/2" impact guns, but for the last five I have used a MAC tools impact gun they call "the daddy". It has a titanium case, and the balance in the hand makes it much less tiring if you are using it all day, every day.
I recently came across a problem with a crank pulley bolt on a diesel BMW which defied even my 1" CP air impact gun. In the end I borrowed a 3/4" 18v Milwaukee gun, which just unscrewed the difficult bolt with absolutely no fuss at all. To say I was impressed is an understatement, and I bought one same day. I stand by my MAC gun as the first thing I reach for though. It is such a comfortable tool to use, I keep a brand new spare in its box just in case it ever lets me down!

thanks for all the info on this subject folks , experience counts when purchasing such kit , I reckon I may plump for the Milwaukee , it sounds like what the whole idea of these things were invented for , time save time !
would be great if I could lock the crank off and use my 1" drive set but there doesn't appear to be a way to do it

impressive figures pal , does it walk the walk ??

Overkill just for wheel bolts, but oh so easy! I have used it on wheel bolts, caliper carriers, lower arms amongst some others and it hasn't let me down. I should add this is DIY use but it definitely has some whack. I bought the batteries from eBay (£60 vs £100+ elsewhere)

I have a Lidl/Parkside 10.8V 1/2" impact wrench that claims to put out up to 400Nm backing out but only 100Nm making up - so you can't overtorque your wheel nuts. It came in a carry case with charger, 5 impact sockets (wheel nut sizes) and a battery to 12v cigarette lighter lead for £40. First one did not hammer like it should, Lidl sent a replacement straight away. Not used it in anger yet, but for £40 it could be a good buy!

Personally I’ve got dewalt too, comparison to Milwaukee in power term they are pretty much identical but it’s better balanced in the hand, I took a good hour trying different brands at ECAtoolfast and found the dewalt the most comfortable if holding for any period of time more then a couple of minutes.
Paired mind with a few 5ah batteries, normal charger not looked back in two years.

Well I don't use mine so often so I rely on an "arm" its ultra low voltage and runs on allsorts,
its always with me but like everything else its getting worn and reluctant to start.

If I could I would get some new ones.
