My local MB dealer is telling me that the 7 year+ value service is no longer available and the best he can do is an "a" service for £340, the last value service I had was £151. Anyone else been told this?

That seems a heck of a price for a basic A service. Have you tried checking to see what MyService comes up with? Might be wrth looking at an Inchcape owned dealer - they usually discount the MyService price on older cars - even if you don't use them, it'll give you a reference point.

My local dealer used to be very flexible on price, then stopped and I switched to using one of the several indies there are around here (Chester/Wirral). Had an email from the dealer the other day offering to price match.

You're not kidding - my recent A service for my C220 was £120+VAT from a local indie - in accordance with MB ESS and using correct parts, oil etc.

That's what I was told too at a local MB dealer, however when I e-mailed & asked Mercedes directly they told they DO provide a value service.
I just used an indie anyway.

The price he gave was with the best discount he could give, so he told me. MyService doesn't show me anything for my car it just tells me to contact a dealer.

My indie is saying £180 inc VAT, my car is a 5.0 litre V8 though!

340 quid for an oil change? Sweet lord. I guess that's what pays for the shiny dealerships

What's more important to you, main dealer stamp or job done properly?

My indie is going to do the service and a couple of other service items.

If this is the case I will not be using the main dealer, can’t justify £300 odd pounds on an oil change! All the other bit are just checks .

I Googled and found another SL500 - RV54LSC - and using my local dealer (MB Cheshire Oaks, an Inchcape dealer) the basic A service comes up at £185.46. I put 60K miles in and it did automatically add a brake fluid change and spark plug change, which produced an inital total of £666.53. It could be your dealer is including other stuff - I know your car takes a bit of oil, but if the price you got is just the basic service then that's insane.

Having said all that, Cheshire Oaks (Chester, as were) were good with me for 10yrs, then just went bonkers one visit and tore the car apart. They were also weird about it, in a way that made me think they didn't want me coming in with an older car anymore. So I take it to an indie now.

I'm going with my indie. £430 for the oil change, brake fluid change and coolant change.
