VW Scirocco. The Quattro, E350 CDi Blue Efficiency Sport Coupe, now both gone
Being polite is not 'Rocket Science'. It is about 'spatial awareness'. Being aware of the needs of others about one.

Good manners cost nothing and spreading them around leaves people feeling better.

Never understood how it is ok to carry but not use a mobile at the filling station, radio waves are permanently present everywhere these days, another case of the World gone mad.

I think it is more do do with the sparks that could potentially produced. I worked in oil and gas on on the sites (refineries) we were only allowed special "intrinsically safe" cameras, phones etc. i.e.

You forgot the rest of the chav uniform hair rollers, spray tan, tattoo's and a blinged up phone, the children are best described as accessories to the lifestyle and from conception (back of skip outside spoon's) to the purchase of the most expensive baby stroller onwards they are there to reflect upon.
A rounded meal is a maccy d's and a sunday lunch is a KFC, life revolves around bookface, reality tv and online petitions.

worry not underneath the radar are many parents making an effort working hard and instilling their children with goodness.

If we get below the snowflakes there are a lot of decent people who respect the law and democracy.
you forgot to mention ..."sense of entitlement" in your description of chavs.

The problem with rules is that if they are not enforced, then there is no point to them.

I don't mind the parent / disabled parking etc - what really annoys me is seeing people inappropriately using it (including parents without their kids) and getting away with it.

In my last job we had certain no go areas for pedestrians (for staff arriving / leaving the office). Staff ignored the rule because the permitted route was longer. I wrote to our safety team (cc the Big Boss) and asked them to change the rules, they asked "why' and my reply was that the rules were not being enforced. Overnight they started monitoring the area and senior management made safety breaches 1) Warning letter for 1st offence, 2) dismissal for 2nd offence!

Problem sorted!

There was a test years ago, when phones had replaceable batteries, that found if the phone was dropped on the ground and the shock disconnected the battery connections, it could cause a spark/voltage spike that would ignite fuel vapour. Without that, the phone was incapable of lighting anything but how many people have never dropped their phone on the ground?

I can safely say I have not dropped my phone at a fuel station ever and can count on 1 hand the number of times I have dropped a mobile ever.

So quaint, the notion of the country enforcing rules, laws or even vote outcomes.

The idea of I got caught/lost, essentially to behave reasonably and take it on the chin and move on is but a receding memory.

We are descending into a spiralling decline where law breakers and losers get the sympathy and the voice.

There is a shrinking pool of people for whom their word is their bond and who accept that a system has to have support even when you are inconvenienced.

If we can't accept democracy then the system breaks, why not park where you want, do what you want ?
Our leaders don't keep their word our "celebrities" revel in dodging responsibility so why should we expect Chantelle in her chav wagon to be any better ?

It happens which is why I keep mine in “lifeproof” cases, eldest daughter dropped hers off a parade float low loader, went under all 8 rear wheels. I picked it up wiped the dirt off it and it was still in perfect condition. Couple of marks on the case but the phone was immaculate.

Democracy is a funny thing. People complain about it but won't accept more democracy to clarify a situation is a democratic solution.

Agree about the enforcement of rules.

It was Winston Churchill who stated 'The best argument against democracy is a five minute discussion with the average voter':D

The trouble with enforcing 'rules' in a private car park is that it is a civil matter and the only way to do this is by Private Prosecution, and if the likes of ParkingEye and private security firms are reluctant to go this far I seriously doubt the supermarkets themselves will have the appetite?

I am afraid I can't do the mental gymnastics needed to persuade myself that getting more of something involves removing the original.

This rerun of Franz Kafka thinking is a construct of the people who I allude to above.

Democracy has never been killed by more democracy.

As this is descending into politics and off topic I'm leaving it there.

A private prosecution is a criminal proceeding initiated by an individual or private organisation

I'm just back from Prague yesterday, never thought his name would come up first time back on this site!

Ah the entitlement to a better standard of living than many working families can expect paid for entirely by my and your taxes.

Have you ever noticed that even when you park in a lonely remote space as far from other cars as possible there is always a car parked either side when you return?
Yep, I parked at Tesco early yesterday morning, loads of spaces, then when I came out a car was just pulling up next to me.

Could we also include the pick up and drop off points at supermarket car parks please? Ours is always full with people who do "little shops" and will only be five minutes!
