Practical for a drop top, hides marks/dust dirt etc stays looking good longer, what is there not to like!

So because it’s black you don’t clean it and sit in dirt? Black gets just as dirty...

Yep but lighter colour interiors cream etc discolour very quickly no matter how you try and keep on top of it, I remember Jean blue dye transfer becoming a nightmare on my cream leather seats in the Jag and cream leather steering wheels can be a nightmare to keep clean.

They shouldn’t discolour if you keep them clean. I’ve had grey or beige leather in all of mine and even after 130k+ plus miles they’ve cleaned up beautifully. Perhaps it’s because I’ve only been fortunate enough to have real leather :D:)

I've always had real leather in my cars (at least 8 of them), cream did clean up with work but took a lot more effort to keep looking good so I now only go for darker coloured leather, found black always looks best.

We have black in the 129 and grey in the 230. The black tends to show dust more than the grey. The biggest drawback to the black is heat when the sun gets on it if parked with the top down.

Now and again the blue from my jeans get onto the leather, but it doesn't take long to get this off.

stop buying designer jeans and go to Primark, no dye running in cheap jeans, they've been machine washed not stone washed ;)

I prefer lighter coloured interiors. My W221 was light grey, looked brand new at 4.5 years with a regular wipe over with the cleaner that came with the car. My current W166 has a mix of light and dark, the dark bits show the slightest bit of dust, takes a lot more to keep it clean the the S Klasse did.

I also like unusual colour combinations, my Z3 for example has black/green interior.

The only black interior we've had in nearly 20 years was the C43 back in the noughties. Lived with it without actually liking it and it showed all the dust. The 996 Turbo is Metropole Blue, GT3 is more like a dark grey - and the Alcantara seat centres give some texture - but there are no choices on interiors on those. E350 is almond.

They are supposed to have the reflective treatment in the leather (convertibles) but it still gets seriously hot. Even my Bengal Red is not a pleasant experience when it has been standing in the sun! But TBH every car that I have owned with dark leather seats has been a problem in hot countries & even here on hot days - even with a roof..
