My local dealer in Coventry is insisting that ZH M (A 000 989 91 03 10) is correct for the ABC suspension system. I doubted them and won't buy it but they insist it's correct. Its MB343 spec and I believe it should be to 344 spec. Maybe I'm wrong. I can't buy Pentosin locally today but other CHF11S of different brands is available. What are group thoughts on using them?
ABC is a niggling concern at the best of times, things like this are why. The girl that served me was about 18 years old. I know its awful and I know people have to learn but that doesn't inspire confidence in me I'm afraid.

And I see Halfrauds are selling a Comma oils formulation “equivalent” for 9.95/litre, anyone tried it?

I think I did about 2 years ago when a sphere blew 70 miles from home. No problems since.

I bought mine from Opie Oils @ £13/ litre on offer a couple of years back, 12 litres as I thought I’d invest...

I was just trawling around the net and found a thread from a guy on another group that had exactly the same experience with a Mercedes dealer. There must be a glitch in their system or its an operator error.

£13/ltr for 5 ltrs or £9.50/ltr for 20ltrs on ebay. May be a few quid more expensive than alternatives but when youve got £1000's of kit relying on it, its false economy to use something that may be lesser quality.

I agree caution is required, but it’s the same question when you look at Panadol vs. Generic Paracetamol, you pay a lot of money for the recognised brand, is it safer or more effective?

MB don’t make their own fluids, I always try to find the OEM manufacturer if possible, or alternatively find something which is certified to the relevant MB standard, rather than “compliant” which many shady manufacturers use as a get out of jail card.

It was the price of £10 a litre that set my alarm bells ringing when she bought it out. Only brands like Comma or Granville are around £10 and then only off e Bay. I've put the job off till next week now.

No. But they do formulate their own fluids...

.. and that is what I'm going to use. I just found a thread answered by Malcom that said if it's the right spec it's fine. It's to MB345.
