Just picked up my wife’s new 10/2011 ML35cdi and very pleased with it.

Only question I have is how to play songs from the various iPhones with have through the system.

We also have 2 x E220 cdi’s (2011 and very early 2013) and both of these play tunes when the disc button is pressed.

There is a media interface cable which connects in the glovebox with a USB at the input end and this charges the phones and they all connect via Bluetooth as well, but so far no music.

Little Sam (6) will be very disappointed if he can’t play his 80’s tunes on the way to school !

Pic of the COMAND version attached and any help much appreciated.

Cheers

Jonny

Hook phone up to car , select audio, select Bluetooth audio in drop down menu, it will say connect to device. That should be it .

Thanks for taking those pics. They’re the same as the E class set up, however, on the ML it doesn’t have the same options.

The UMI socket in the glovebox recognises Sam’s iPod when directly connected with the UMI cable, however, my iPhone 6 via the USB into a lightning cable doesn’t get recognised. Might be the cable.

It also came with a stereo jack UMI cable, so may use that for connecting Sam’s iPod as he sits in the back seat.

So looks like no music streaming over Bluetooth where there’s a UMI connection.

Cheers

Jonny

not all have BT music streaming.
on some it can be updated and or turned on in hidden menu. but 2010 was the cross over and its hardware dependant early car's can't have it

if you are trying to do it via a cable, then lightening and apple are very fussy about technical standards and cheap Chinese fakes often don't work. Always use genuine apple kit if you want it to do what apple intended. or by expensive ones that claim to have the same feature set and keep fingers crossed it actually works

^ exactly this, ok the Apple adapter is c£30 but it works, the cheap £2 ones will only charge your phone but not support streaming

A150 manual, smart forTwo, W205 AMG line premium plus.
The W164 ML with NTg 2.5 does not support any bluetooth music streaming. The presence of UMI is immaterial.

If you have UMI then deploying a Viseeo WMA3000A will give you streaming but this will interfere with audio on telephone calls.
