Hi everyone, update as promised.

Well, I tried to look beyond the high gloss, mint amg wheels and all the toys (10k's worth) and had a really good look underneath with an led torch. Had a good prod about, the only corrosion I could find was on the metal painted struts (?) which support the exhaust. It was flaky and the nuts were rusty but I had a good tap and looked solid. The exhaust had some light surface rust as you would expect on the centre pipe but the back boxes and the rest of the underside was all good.

The dealer had asked the mot station about what they had advised on it and was just that area, certainly not structural and looking at it I am hoping it can be cleaned and protected once the car is home and the weather drier. The bodywork is lovely as are the arches etc.

As for the rest of the car, it is amazing, 47k miles 9 stamps in the book. Amg factory body kit, sat nav, amg wheels, electric seats. Heated seats, air scarf. Harman kardon, plastic wind deflector (even with the carry case). 2 owners from new. Drives like a dream, out the roof to the test several times and did all the checks mentioned on here, couldn't find anything but no doubt time will tell.

It had an atf change in 2009 so I am guessing I will need to get that done but just been serviced with the correct grade of oil so (checked it too) so that's helpful.
Looks very nice - if you've not done so you should check your M272 engine following this guide

One of my SLs is male (Malcolm after a well known forum member), the other is Katie (reg number is K***TEA).
My other two cars are non-gender specific ("The bus" as it's a 7 seater and "The wheelie bin" as it's grey and has plastic panels).
I think an SLK being such a pretty car should really be female unless it's an SLK55 (when it's a bit too brutal to be anything but male).

Thanks, I looked at MBS webpage last night, looks great and only about 9 miles from me.

Will be booking her in for sure for the atf change and checkover.

Thoroughly recommend MBS - been using them for a few years with the CLK280 and now the E350.
The CLK went well with the 280 in it - an SLK will fly......

ATF is a definite must after all that time and WILL make a difference - but also consider the plugs (if they haven't been done in a while) . The guys (even Merlin if he's back from his injuries) will give it a decent once over for you for any further reassurance.

The other thing I would recommend these days, given our roads, is a check of the tracking. Its amazing how far 'out' wheels get due to pot holes etc.... In a 'nimble' car, that would make a major difference to handling and ergo, enjoyment.

Thanks, I am definitely going to take it there for the atf and yes probably the plugs too. The dealer has done an oil and filter change and pdi but it has only done 100 miles in 3 years (been garaged) so it could do with a proper check over by specialists.

I am a bit obsessive with my cars so start as you mean to go on.

IT could also do with a proper spanking around the country to get it all working nicely !

I don't know, it came via Mercedes in Exeter to a local dealer. Am guessing it was too old for them to retail? Just looking at the mot and service history, the last service was 2016 and MOT, then about 100 miles before the previous mot in Jan 2019 and I asked for a new mot and service upon sale. Obviously someone had very deep pockets when they ordered it to have all those extras. Even has front and rear parking sensors, is that Parktronic? There's a switch for it, all a bit too technical for me!

It is in such lovely condition all round, I had pictures sent to me pre valet and it was immaculate then! The service schedule was spot on and all by Mercedes. The seats aren't worn, nor the carpets. Both keys and all books etc. Boot is like brand new with nothing disturbed, even a set of brand new locking wheel nuts still sealed in the bag. Wind deflector bag, warning triangle. Spare wheel has never been unbolted.

Bit like the Mary Celeste. Everything works other than the nearside electric mirror so that is going to be fixed, it folds in but doesn't adjust, so I can't pick it up till that's been done. Heated seats and air scarf is lovely, even the steering wheel is electrically adjustable and tilts when you get out of the car. Great for short ladies like me who have to be close to the steering wheel. The seats took a bit of adjusting to get right but assuming they have memory.
