today a long day ,just getting to the point whre i can get the valve cover off ! to get at the cam chain i am looking to change the amount of stuff to remove is,frankly, astounding, (i miss my ford escort at times like this ) 2 hrs just to get turbo off , but so far nothing broken , tomorrow injectors out. cant get cover of without removing them. made up slide hammer attch just in case , they came out easy on my "spare" engine ,which i used to practice my procedure on. hope to get to the point chain fitted tomorrow then , mon or tues to put everything back , eng was ok but at 150k miles i wanted it done. the one i took out of spare eng had more curve in than william tells bow ! cant see how cover comes off with turbo there, cant see how to get slide hammer in line with injectors with slam panel there ,cant get that off with bumper there ! bit of a bitch really.wot t do ? some pic may be same ,but you get the idea , would HATE to be paying benz for this, and in my view, other than service filters the maker seems to have had not the slightest concern over what a ball ache everything else is to do . that said i have had good use from it.
Proper man cave with some serious mechanicking work going on buddy :D!

Changed the drivers side engine mount on the 129. It was well and truly fubared.
What a pig it was getting the rear most lower bolt back in. Total job was 3 hours over half of which was getting that damned bolt back in.

W204 2013 C350 CDI Pan roof
Cleaned the rubber seals and drains around the roof and boot. Lubricated all the hinges in the folding mechanism then lubricated the boot and door key locks.

I also went for a drive sans roof :D
How do you lubricate boot and door key locks?

With silicone lubricant spray with a straw nozzle. Force it past the flap and spray away

Finally got round to fixing a leak on my ML (yesterday) this weeks weather forced me to get a move on. It's been a constant exercise of placing drip mats, kitchen roll and micro fibre towels under the vent/flap.
Took the vent off, the seal behind was soaked with water. Replaced after a clean, then a bead of sealant made around the vent. Other side done as well.

Replaced Ultimate nightbreaker in os dipped headlight. Previous one lasted 2 years.
Now I've got the knack of the fitting it only took a couple of minutes. First time took 45 mins. (Big hands , lack of both view & knowledge).

image.jpeg image.jpeg Did this to another car (jag xk ) but it was insight of my E class . The cars soft top hadnt been washed at all for 10 years at least .
Its a friends car , so i got him to order up a roof cleaning kit including brushes and containters . The cleaner/paint/proofer were all Renovo but other makes are available .
Gave the roof a wash and scrub with various upholstery/apc and milton sterilising tablets . About 5 washes, scrubs and rinses did the job initially .
The first picture is when i started scrubbing on the first clean . The last pic is the final finished job . .
When the roof water stopped running green i used the Renovo cleaner and left it on for an hour.
A final rinse and i left it for a couple of hours to dry . Then on with 2 coats of dark blue paint with a drying gap inbetween .
Put my CLK roof cover on overnight to keep it dry for 24 hours , then topped off with a final waterproof liquid .
Fantastic final finish for a 19 year old roof . Probably 3-4 hours total work .

well today not as planed .had hoped to get chain in and stuff back on .mr benz had better idea, spent 3 hr trying to loosen oil feed to turbo pipe from back of engine .hah.. no room ,modified 2 bits of kit to try eventually got it to move but then pipe seized in the fitting and nut screwed ,special mb china chocolate steel.anyway after 3 hr twisted pipe off so i could get a single hex over it so mr benz can expect to rob me for that this week coming and job delayed . injectors came out as planed but a cam cover bolt was a b to get out as exhaust manifold in way. another hr to sort that , cant even use pipe of spare eng ,exactly same prob and this fitting i cant budge 55 shows the fitting in spare motor next to the tensioner also a b as coolant pipes in the way . i could not even get a picture of the one in the car too dark .

Admire your persistence -
I’d have clumped it or something nearby before now!

I decided to triple splice in 1.5mm2 very flexible hookup wire rather than butt up the original 4.0mm2; this was a pain in the proverbial due to the short door-side length to fix onto- and that the wire was conducting heat away from my soldering iron almost as fast as it could supply it.

You need a bigger soldering iron....
