Hi,

A couple of time over the lately, a warning sign has appeared in the central binnacle. I think it may be a warning of over heating but i'm not too sue what it refers to, and what to do.

Its not a red light, just a simbel and has no audible warning with it. The digital temperature gage is about in the middle, so that is not reading as too hot.

I think the coolant level is correct, and the cas was serviced about 6 weeks ago.

Although I have thought it smells a bit hot sometimes when I have got out of it. I was thinking the hot engine smell was probably normal, as my Toyota smells a bit the same. I don't drive either of them hard and are doing about 70 miles a day.

Any thought on this?

Hello and welcome

You really need to tell us what the light is. All your lights should come on when you turn the ignition on. Make a note of which one you’ve seen come on and if you can take a pic with your phone (when parked) and post it here you’ll get real advice on what it is.

OK jut to further clarify.

In the centre of the binnacle the display occasionally shows a symbol. This is in a gray colour, not red as in the picture and its the same symbol as the Red Overheating light on the bottom right of the dash. (The red light comes on and of as normal on ignition start up)
The over heating light does not show whilst driving. The same symbol does appear in the center occasionally. (once a week) in a grey colour. It is this I am questioning.

Only takes two minutes to open the bonnet and check if you have the correct level of water in the system.
That would be my first move!

The Rad level looks fine, that was the 1st thing I checked, I meant that I can confirm they are fine by it also being serviced recently.

I have heard the rad fan working ( it seems quite loud)

I dont have the book to hand, I see that somebody on another forum has posed the same question.

If the symbol was red then that definitely indicates over heating. but this is grey and the other warning light does not come on.
The red symbol comes with a message to stop, but there is no message with this. I have not had the red symbol appear.
