Is Roadsharks a positive thing?.. I think I will be putting them on next.
I have them all round on my Smart, 210 and 129. They'd be on the 230 too if they were available in the right size.

I am on my 3rd pair of rears and 2nd pair fronts on the W204, absolutely brilliant

Why yes indeed. Consistently amongst the top 3 wet weather tyres for grip,72dB rated for noise and the 255/50 19” on my R Class are £80/ corner or thereabouts. I only wish they did a size to fit the rears on my CL.

The Rainsports fitted to my Roadster were suggested to me by my local indie tyre place. Been very happy with them

Just read this thread, only because I have gone and got one to add to the collection.
Judging by the number of posts on here, yes these cars are rare..
Anyway its a R350 CDI 4 matic LWB - depreciation is huge on these, I think service costs will be high, even looking at ECP for parts and regular items like filters are pretty steep. Wooop woop

Filters etc are standard for the OM642 engine

Well. i've been looking at the R Class for some years and finally bought one, I love the looks and the huge space inside, but it is heavy and even the 265bhp 350cdi is dulled by the sheer size and weight. I think I will grow to like it, providing it stays in one piece, people blame the american build quality but lets not forget they are assembled there using parts same as any Mercedes and its the parts that fail not that they fall off because they haven't been screwed together properly. I had a few bits to sort out namely seat belt buckles (broken wires) door switch failure on drivers side (broken cable, flat printed type) Thermostat running engine cool (£150) rear tailgate pinch strips failed and prevent door from power closing, i've just bought some 19" rims to improve the ride quality as its running 20" (for sale, now) and it's easier to get some all season tyres m+s to make some use of the 4 weel drive, the MB sat nav is bonkers to use but the voice control does work (linguatronic do they call it)? I like the fact there is not many about, having said that I pulled out of the road near me to be followed by two others a few weeks ago. Gearbox in sport mode is, for me a must in E mode it's just too dull unless you floor it, fuel consumption I reckon is better in S, some of the pastic is creaky, and very cheap which is a shame and my old Jaguar was much better in that respect, but the Jag didn't have seven seats and I need them and wanted to reduce the number of vehicles we had (4 at the time) the Outlander has been returned to the lease company, just not big enough and really expensive servicing (over £1000 in three years and 24000 miles) and that was just basics service items and no repairs/replacement parts.

The engine is a bit growly which was unexpected. more so at low speeds and pulling away but smooth enough

Servicing my R320 LWB 18mths sfo cost about £120 in parts (all from ECP) and 3-4 hours in labour/ skinned knuckles. The engine air filters are a pig to get to! Aside from that, buy a vacuum oil pump (£30 off Amazon, I bought a Sealey) and an oil filter chain spanner (£5 ish) and it’s all perfectly serviceable on the driveway.

Indeed the air filters are a pig to get at. The om642 is an onion. You need to peel back layers to get the simple things done. I also changed the orange seals to the turbo while I was in there. The car was kangarooing and replacing the seals fixed it. They should be a service item.
Back to the R per se - they are big (LWB) and the car is thirsty on the juice it’s a 350CDI 4 Matic.
The 15k mile interval is long. there will definitely be an intermediate oil change in between.
I love the looks - it looks a menacing car.
