Today I washed and polished my wheels and continue be amazed that these 27 year old wheels, which have never been refurbished in any way , still look pretty much as new.

well today lovelies baby benz back up and running , i eventually wriggled with spare eng oil pipe , heat, small hammer flat punch on nut top flats ,wd 40, more of that. check for leaks over next few days ,called benz dealer to ask Q ref high press line, very helpful indeed ,was a little surprised , anyone doing a class diesel W168 will know there is no access to bleed H.P side once inlet manifold on .anyway was not a prob , loads of stuff VERY time consuming to do , basically no room to work .only part i hated was oil line for turbo it runs from back of cyl head ???? and despite every effort was almost impossible to tighten correctly , open spanner, cut spanner ,crows foot, and a wobbly ring pictured earlier with a slot cut for pipe , so i had no choice ,cringe, but to tap the nut for pipe fitting just a bit to know it was tight with a small thin long chisel ! wot to do ? BENZ say they remove eng ! even crimping the chain was a bit of a B as anvil i had would not sit at 90 degrees to sit flat on the rivit,so i milled out a slot to allow for the ridge on the sprocket. anyway we are up and running.

Nice run down the coast again, bit damp overnight which thankfully meant the gull deposits came off easily this morning (they had me again on every panel last night) :(

Took my front pads out of the CLK (they were new 2 years ago ) , just re copper slipped the guides and cleaned the muck out .
I did notice that the inner pads (MB) showed some signs of cracking around the edge of the pad material , it was only on the inner pads I was wondering if anyone had seen this before or knows it's cause ?
Wish I'd taken a pic but I was too covered in dirt .

View attachment 50746 View attachment 50747 Did this to another car (jag xk ) but it was insight of my E class . The cars soft top hadnt been washed at all for 10 years at least .
Its a friends car , so i got him to order up a roof cleaning kit including brushes and containters . The cleaner/paint/proofer were all Renovo but other makes are available .
Gave the roof a wash and scrub with various upholstery/apc and milton sterilising tablets . About 5 washes, scrubs and rinses did the job initially .
The first picture is when i started scrubbing on the first clean . The last pic is the final finished job . .
When the roof water stopped running green i used the Renovo cleaner and left it on for an hour.
A final rinse and i left it for a couple of hours to dry . Then on with 2 coats of dark blue paint with a drying gap inbetween .
Put my CLK roof cover on overnight to keep it dry for 24 hours , then topped off with a final waterproof liquid .
Fantastic final finish for a 19 year old roof . Probably 3-4 hours total work .
That's some improvement...perfect advertisement for the manufacturer's cleaning product's ( and your dedication too !! ) Well Done, Wighty

Thanks Jim , I'm still pleased now and it wasn't even my car . It was very satisfying cleaning all those years of muck away and ending up with a new roof .

I will do the wheels tomorrow...Really pleased with the finish
