Good evening all,
I have noticed today that the pitch of the 'wirr' from my W204 Electronic Steering Lock has gotten much deeper and takes longer to complete its function. I read a while back that the motors inside the ESL(?) module fail and immobilize the vehicle suddenly.
I'm pretty concerned that this is a 'ticking time bomb' issue, and recall reading a while back that the repair is MUCH simpler if it can be undertaken when the wheel is unlocked, almost impossible if the motor fails locked. However, i am struggling to find by google or forum search the information i read last year on it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is this a DIY fix? I recall reading that a company in Birmingham can change this part by call-out or visit to them, I'm keen to get this fixed now before it strands me somewhere and costs ££££ to repair if it jams locked.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!
