Hi,
Engine light came on today...no malfunctions. I have turned the engine off and left it for a few minutes but still on. Possible secondary battery or voltage issue?
Any advice would be warmly welcome...

There will always be codes if the light is on. You just need the right code reader to see them.

Didn't you just buy the car ? If so was it from a dealer ?

I don't use the car much so that what I thought it might be...are the batteries in parallel so I can take one out at a time and give it a charge without everything going dead?

And would the reset within the instrument panel menu clear it in case it was just a battery voltage glitch?

not a lot of point guessing , either take it back or get it plugged into , it cant be serious if its not effecting the running of the car

Stick a battery conditioner on the consumer battery in the boot :)

get it on a ctek for a while 3/4 days if practical. ,see what happens these cars HATE low voltage, lots of issues go away when batts in good order, and if yr keeping that car,get star, then get familiar with it. u will learn a lot and save a B fortune. when issue resolved put ctek permanent wiring in front and rear. have it connected up any time car not in use. batt under bonnet only starts engine, far as i know. observe handbook on disconnection/re connection procedure

The malfunctions screen in the middle of the cluster are for warnings like low screenwash, bulb failures etc. Its not a item listing specific code screen for warning lights, such as the EML. Its highly unlikely the EML has come on because of low battery voltage so I would say you need someone with STAR.

Most independents will be able to diagnose your car for no more than half an hours labour. Its a lot cheaper than investing £600 in a machine you wont know how to operate at its fullest capacity for the odd fault code.

And even then the clone stuff doesnt do or cant do everything you need it to do.

Buy an iCarsoft MB2, easily worth the expense at about £135

My MB-II works fine on my 230.
I seem to recal trying GLKs v2.0 on it and it was fine too.
