Why are we so quick to tar all dealers with the same brush?

Bear in mind that the foreign bits of metal may not have come from the engine.
They could have been swarf that got into the engine on assembly, or even bits that did the same at a previous service.
So having removed them, the engine might be fine.

The MB Dealer could be right. At least he seems honest and upfront - which is more than many dealers ever are.

1: I/we are not tarring all dealers with the same brush
2: The bits did come from the engine . They were in the oil when it was drained !
3: Even if it was swarf it has been pumped around the engine doing god knows what damage !
4: There was no previous service . This was the first after only 7500 miles.
5: Having removed them is no guarantee the engine might be fine. With a brand new Mercedes we don't want "mights"
6: The dealer has not really been honest and up front. They "lost" the evidence needed to present to MBUK. Did not photograph or video it either which they are supposed to do when servicing a car. The sales manager was shocked when he realised this had not been done ! Now they are trying to tell us nothing is wrong after the technician of many years service thought it was sufficient enough to flag it up and we were told initially that it may need a new engine because one of the " bits" was half the size of a finger nail. !
