Just thought I'd post a note around an issue I created for myself. After swapping Brakes Pads and Disks all round, i had a soft brake pedal. Tried bleeding the brakes, same issue. Was driving me slightly nuts. Brakes stiffened if I pumped the pedal, anyway after more research I realised I'd put the caliper springs back on the wrong way around.

So after putting them on correctly, all issues disappeared and brakes successfully bedded in...

A simple mistake which cost hours of effort and angst. Posting this hopefully to save someone else from the same problem

I assume that's the rears ? did it have wind back calipers ? in my experience they some times need a drop of fluid bleeding off after being squeezed back

It was surprisingly easy to pop the springs on in the wrong position. Their shape suggested they should hook around the caliper bracket as much as push against it... Anyway issue caused by overconfidence, I'd normally take photos when tackling a 'new' for me vehicle, but for some reason I didn't. After bleeding multiple times and mucking about, I started to suspect I'd put them on wrong but found it difficult to find a picture of of how they should be installed. It's obvious with a picture, but not without; hence my post, so hopefully I can save someone from the same mistake in the future.
