First time poster looking for some advice , currently have the cla200d , looking at getting new a class . Is the boot large enough for a pram / buggy? Hesitant on getting the a class incase it’s a little small / awkward in the boot getting such items in and out .

I would look as a CLA SB, much more room or go up to a C Class Wagon.

Hello and welcome,

Very much depends upon what buggy you have, best option would be to load up your car and drive to a dealer and ask to try. If they want to sell they'll more than be willing to let you try. I'd try the car-seat as well as sometimes rear seats are sculptured so they don't sit well.

Does it have to be new, there is a plate change coming up so there will be bargains and ex demo cars coming available

We have an A Class, not the new one but on a 2016 plate. The boot isn't massive but I'd think you could put a buggy in there. What we don't like about ours though is how restricted the rear doors are, so if you have a child in a car seat in the back it might prove a bit of a struggle. I am only small, same size as a 12yr old child, and honestly there are times I struggle to get out if I am sitting in the back and the car is parked on a slight incline.
Our previous car was a C Class Estate, with hindsight wish we had kept it. Obviously had tons of boot space, but also the cabin itself was more spacious and never had any issues with the back doors.

My daughter was 5'10" at age 12 :D
Her BFF is 1/2" taller. Her mum has just changed her A class for a qashqai for the room and ability to get the kids, dog and associated junk that has to be carried.
My wife changed from a Fiat 500C to a Qashqai purely as our daughter was too tall to fit in the back. I fit easily in the back seats and I'm 6'2" and rugged framed :D:p:cool:

Not necessarily , although with the new interior in newer models it’s a lot more appealing than an older model.

I seen the issue some people had with older a class was the boot opening was quite awkward to get larger items in due to the lights making the opening quite narrow .
