Having walked the rest of the street i noted not one other car has been touched , gives me the impression this act may have been personal . . . .

It's sickening, Good quality CCTV Images and social media are your only realistic defence against this malicious or vindictive practice, or locking your car away in a garage out of reach and if it is the latter, vindictive and personal then I would expect and prepare for further unwelcome visits so don't waste time, don't let them make a victim of you so easily again.
It's a sad sign of the times and I too blame the parent(s) in the first place and the relevant Town and County Councils second in their Cohesion and Integration policies, all it has appeared to do on the face of things is relocate troubled families from inner city estates to rural village locations in the midst of richer pickings. Social Media in the form of local community and Parish Council forum who share CCTV footage and information on criminal or suspicious activity, it surprised me just how many local hooligans have been named and shamed from under their hoodies and all members are encouraged to share information with a named and proactive member of the West Yorks local Policing team. Don't get mad, get even.

Unfortunately it's Impossible to hold politicians to account so we’re forever trapped in a cycle of reducing police numbers to save money post election and increasing numbers pre election. If adequate policing requires another 20k in numbers politicians shouldn’t have a say it should all boil down to the amount of recorded crimes per annum

We can hope... If it's not cars being vandalised then it's something else. On my walks through the national forest I see samplings pulled out the ground, litter everywhere when there are bins, fences vandalised and the wood used to make fires, picnic benches vandalised. The local Co-Op that I grab a Costa from was raided the other night by three armed men.

What we need is undercover special police with concealed weapons and a roving brief......

It's one of the things I enjoy about our trips to France. It may be just the rural area we go to but there is no litter or wanton destruction and vandalism.
Whenever we come back from overseas the litter is one of the first things that strikes us about the UK (along with the parlous state of the roads and interminable traffic queues).

Funny you should mention litter. I was in Greenwich on Sunday and remarked on how clean and free of litter the streets were.
