This Mercedes E350 cdi was in today for tuning.

the older 350cdi engines (231bhp) run Bosch cp10 ECU which still needs removal and tuning on the bench.

stock power 231bhp & 540nm
GAD power 300bhp & 720nm

gains of +69bhp +180nm!!!

EGR valve closed
Speed limter removed
massive torque gain
gearbox reset ⚙️

much better performance and great feedback from customer.

Nice gains, what torque!

may I ask, what are the benefits of the EGR delete on the 350 CDI?

Yes so the EGR is a Exhaust Gas Re-circulation valve which diverts some exhaust gas back in to the inlet.

ideally you want cool air in the inlet, the cooler & more oxygen rich the air the better the engine runs.

by recirculating hot exhaust gas, the inlet receives already combusted air with less oxygen and plenty of carbon.

as a consequence you also get carbob build up in the EGR valve and inlet.

speaking from my own experience I have owned a C350cdi & E350cdi both with less than 60,000 miles on which I had a carbon clean and there was a considerable build up.

so by closing the valve the car runs much better overall.

kind regards

Pardon my ignorance, but what then is the point of the EGR if the car runs better without it?

God missed a trick. He should have made us so that if we farted 50% should be fed back into our lungs to reduce emissions and remind us of the sin we havew commited :)
The people that are around you are the ones that inhale and therefore recycle your gases :rolleyes: . Thank them for their environmental assistance :D

Is it right that disabling the EGR causes the engine to take a little longer to reach running temperature? I use my 350 for a lot of short journeys so this would be bad

NOx reduction.
NOx is one of the more harmful emissions from both diesel and (to a lesser extent) petrol engines.

Emissions control, nothing more

Does by passing the EGR valve mean the car will no longer pass an MOT?

If found to have been bypassed then yes, it would fail. If however it’s just via the current smoke/Co2 test then most cars will still happily pass without it closed, my previous 211 had 4 mots with a map, egr delete and Cat removal, it never came close to failing the test.

Yes it would take a little longer and it’s a factor that you have to take into consideration, however, if your mainly doing short journeys then diesel with and egr/DPF is always going to have issues, they weren’t designed to do short trips. I don’t have that issue as 90% of my journeys were well over and hour in any direction.

I thought that the 231BHP engine could now be remapped through the OBD2 port?

In fact I'm sure I've got an e-mail or pm reply to that effect, but I'm damned if I can find it at the moment.

Some clarification would be appreciated please.

No CP10 is still bench read, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. Allows us to perform a full backup rather than virtual read which can be very usefull.

Not strictly true buddy SOME can be done via OBD but not all SW versions are supported! With CP46 and above you can either VR or ACTUAL read.

Many thanks

True, but we just bench them all. Better to have full read if it's 50/50 after we ID. Potato/tomato :p

I'm not trying to be cheeky here all you Authorised Forum Supporters but is there any chance you could speak English instead of all the "in the club" stuff, it's like trying to understand a couple of Masons having one of their conversations. :D:D:D

If you could explain it so that we mere, potential customers, might understand what you're on about, it would be very helpful. Ta!

No insults implied or intended I only want edu-macated gents. ;)
