C250 CDI - Sport 125 - 2011
Hi all,

recently bought my C class 250CDI (2011 - Coupe 125 Sport edition) and want to get it all up together with regards to updates etc.

1. My car has originally Mercedes history and then after warranty period/2nd owner it has been into a non-Merc dealer - is there anyway to verify if all safety recalls have been done?

2. Similarly, I want to check the cars software is all up to date, is there a release notes list available in regards to the cars onboard computer updates or COMAND Online system?

3. Map updates - It doesn't appear to have ever had any, version is 4.0 2011 which is the year of the car. I spotted a few threads about not using eBay cds etc, is the only other way to go to the main dealers for them? Does anyone have a ball park figure on that - just wondering if it's worth doing as I can always use my phone maps for anything not on there.

I did visit my local Mercedes dealership with the above questions, but they didn't really know the answers and seemed more interested in getting me to buy a new car to fix the above LOL.

Oh and is there any equivalent to VCDS/VAGCOM on the Mercedes platform for the home mechanic - something that runs on a laptop would be great as I have a dedicated one for my garage work

Does your Comand system have the pop-up screen (NTG4) or the permanently visible screen (NTG4.5)? MY20011 was the facelift year and IIRC also the changeover from 4 to 4.5. If the former, you can do the update yourself and have the option of "second user" genuine DVD's from eBay or similar (make sure they're NTG4 204 not NTG4 212!!), but if it's the latter you need a PIN specific to your VIN, main dealer or certain indies like Comand.co.uk can get one (at a cost) aas well as the DVD's.

Thank you for this, the Gov uk site says that they don't have recalls for my vehicle and to contact MB themselves - I will give the head office a ring instead of trying the dealers again I think.

Chrishazle - I have the 4.5, as it's a coupe it got the facelift in late 2011 - so I will need a CD/DVD/USB:
https://www.commandonline.co.uk/Europe-Map-USB-Media.html

And also a PIN separately:
https://www.commandonline.co.uk/NTG3-5-NTG4.5-Map-Licence-Eu.html

Will have to work out if I want to spend £200 on maps, I could make do with my phone for that sort of money - a couple hundred quid towards tyres or similar may be a better buy :D

Thanks both
