My first experience of a car wearing Pirelli P-Zero tyres in the wet.
Not impressed:shock:
The slightest application of throttle, even at low speed and the car wanted to step out.
I never got that with either the Falkens or the Goodyear F1's on the E55.

These have at least 5mm tread left so I won't change them for the sake of it, but I won't be buying any more Pirelli's.

Goodyear or Michelin from now on.

Out of interest which Falkens did you have? Were they the FK510?

P-zero's are ***** , whenever I see a high performance motor with a set on I always think how much better that car would be with some decent tyres on it

I had P-Zero on my W220 many years ago, although look a nice tyre (tread pattern) I found them very noisy. Went to Dunlop sport.

Rarely a good word said about Pirelli , it's the P600 all over again.

The only thing they bring to the table like Continental is a wider rim protector whereas Goodyear's has deminished since the Asymmetric 2 .

I had Porsche spec P-Zeros on the 911 and they were most excellent.

I’ve Pirelli summer tyres on then SLK and they can be provoked to slide quite easily on the throttle...

but who has the mimbles to drive a Porsche 911 fast BC ? o_O:rolleyes::D:D;)
I averaged just over 10mpg for a trip through Wales and 10mpg for a day at Cadwell Park. Tyres stood up to the track pretty well (I could still drive home on them...)

ok , ok, ok you drove a 911 fast and lived to tell the tale BC but that doesn't explain why most of us have found them to be utter crap , even on my VXR which has 4wd the grip levels were poor , especially in the rain / damp

No Alistair. They were ZE 914's. A very good mid range priced tyre.
Ok thanks. Still thinking what get for the 230 rears and the options are Kumho KU39, Falken FK510 (both A rated for wet) or Goodyear Assymetric 2 (which it currently has but which I'm not impressed by). The Kumho come in over £30 per tyre cheaper than the Falkens...
Choices in 285/35/19 are a little limited....

both A rated for wet)

Don't let that fool you, I bought Michelins for the wet "A" rating and they had less grip than my previous worn Falkens (ZE912) which were B or C rated in the wet. Turns out the wet rating is only a braking test and has nothing to do with wet weather handling or traction.

Well I’m a bit interested in this Roger.
I’d have agreed with everyone including your good self on the P Zeros, had them OEM on a few cars and hated them. My 63 which was same year as yours seemed to come alive at the 4mm mark and actually performed really well - even in the wet!
That said I had intended trying out the Falkens if I’d kept it.
The i8 offers me no realistic choice beyond the horrid Bridgestones :(

^ Interesting John. Doubt it will be long to wait until they are at 4mm or below:D

You could change the tyre size to 285/30R19 and get the Goodyear AS3 or AS5.

Gaz you hit the nail on the head .I knew the Pirelli P600 that came with my Volvo V70 were bad at tram lining members on the forum told me about them . And at the time i was told to ditch them before they ditched me . So i changed them making the car a joy to drive , and not fighting to get out of the grooves anymore .

Strangely Blackcircles no longer lists a 19" tyre size for my SL
