Last week I replaced my alternator. And it wasn't that hard, I saved $400 bucks by doing it myself. So I want to start doing tune ups, fixing minor things, etc in my car.

I am a noob, so I'll probably be posting here a lot. But I want to get a tool to help diagnose my car - like the one my mechanic has. What is the best one to get?
thankz

Hi and welcome.
For Mercedes Star is best. Genuine Star costs a fortune but Chinese copies are easy to find.
A bit cheaper is the iCarsoft MB V2.0 which will read all the modules but has limited ability to do much else other than reset steering angle sensors, deactivate SBC and a few other basic tasks.
Cheaper still is the iCarsoft i980. This is pretty much limited to just reading codes.
Given yours is a w211 it will have SBC so the ability to disable it when changing pads might be very useful hence the MB v2.0 would probably be best (unless you can run to Star).

Diags are only as good as the user. Whatever you get be sure to master is. STAR

The icarsoft MB2 has saved me quite a few quid (greenbacks to you buddy ) . The V2 is the newer one to the MB2

Welcome, just back from 3 weeks in Boston & touring New England. Almost every E & C class I saw was four wheel drive.
Different engine sizes due to your emission regs
