Considering going for a 4 service plan on a GLC. It is just coming up to 2 years old. So the thinking is it will cover:
- Oct 2019 B Service (inc Brake Fluid and Air Filter)
- Oct 2020 A Service (inc Fuel filter potentially)
- Oct 2021 B Service (inc whatever they say!)
- Oct 2022 A Service (inc all important ATF which I believe is due at 5 years)

Cost I am quoted is £1728. If pay monthly £36 per month over 4 years.

Genuine question - if I go monthly option, pay £36 for 14 months (= £504) then cancel. What happens!? I would have had two services by that point...I did ask the lady on the phone she couldn't seem to answer the question (or understand my waffle!).

You will either own them money depending on how much the 2 services cost or you might be entitled to a small refund.

When they quoted me, everything was itemised, the A and B Services and the Additional Maintenance Work so cancelling mid term it would be clear where the account stood.

Ah really. They did not mention that at all. Were just ready to take my bank details.

Overall seems a good buy. Tempting to pay it in a lump sum, but if I sell the car there is no refund.

Their first offer to me was a lump sum which was negotiated down, then itemised at my further request, then they offered equal payments by DD at no extra charge so I took the credit, You could always bundle the remaining Service package and make it a condition of purchase with the buyer, you would need to include MB in the discussion as their contract will be with you and the car.

ETA I just looked and confirmed my two Year package to include all Additional Service Items incl an ATF and filter change was for £864 so you're certainly in the right ballpark!

Looks a good deal. When I did mine they said cancelling I would get pro rata back.

That is what they told me too. But looking at their website earlier today...it says if you pay by lump sum they transfer it to next owner. Doesn't give any detail as to what happens if you pay monthly and cancel hence the original question. Maybe I will call tomorrow and ask the question again.

I had a plan on my 63, paid monthly - it was good value I felt at the time discounted to £38 a month
I cancelled when I sold it and they calculated how many services I’d had vs what I’d already paid and they gave me a small refund. Oh and no interest on the payments

I called customer service this morning - they were pretty useless.

I am trying to work out - in your scenario above - what rate do they charge for the services you had. Is it for example the £1728 I was quoted, divide by 4 = £432. Therefore if I had one service, they charge £432...I think not...I think if you cancel you are in a punitive position, they will charge out the one service you have had at the garage rate (which garages are quoting me for at between £530-£665!).

In any case, think I will go for it - but perhaps go for the 2 service option to start with. If I still have the car after that, I can check the pricing at that time and look at getting another package.

Looking at that price I would be using an indy, plenty around London that specialise in MB

Price comparison at my indy

ATF £250 inc flush
Fuel filter £55 (Bosch on ECP)
Air Filter £40 (Bosch on ECP)
Brake Fluid can be bought for £10 a liter on E-Bay for genuine MB you will probably need 2 liters
Engine Oil is £60 for 20 liters on E-bay for genuine MB, filter is £20 for genuine MB

I would look here https://www.mymercedesservice.co.uk/#/your-vehicle and see what they charge for extras on top of the normal servicing

Take the point on potentially saving a little by using indies. However, I don't think the saving is as big as it may seem. The above works out at £432 per service. A major service at an indy is likely close to £300+ these days is it not? And as you say, when ATF due - £250 on top.

I am not questioning the value, as I think it is a reasonable price. The faff is working out what happens if / when you sell the car!

Should make no difference provided all the history is uploaded to the MB portal and MB parts used.

Good part price discrepancy on my car is the air filters, E-Bay for OEM is £70, Exeter MB charge £180

Alex @AMF Automotive does service plans, may be worth asking him for a price comparison

Yep that's the important point. Took me a while to get my head round this- can be a bit confusing when an MB dealer quotes a service price and then adds on the cost of service parts (but obvious when you think about it). Service plan costs includes these parts, except brake components. Certainly plan was the best way to go on our CL.

That is why you have to look on the portal and click on the "Extras" tab, this then gives you exact prices for each item on top of the normal service
