Hi has anyone on here had a problem running the w202 I brought it as a project if you turn the key to prime 7-8 times then start it will run for a few seconds then it's fuel starvation and stalls, the pump seems to priming okay there's pressure at the rails and I've swapped the fuel pressure regulator just in case.... What would my next steps be for trying I own a few w202s I took the relay out put it in another car and it runs fine so can't be the relay, thanks in advance :)

It's a c180 the car starts for a few seconds on prime thou so didn't think immobiliser it's a 1996 I'm going to take the fuel pump off my c200 and fit it to the c180 see if it's the fuel pump as mine is quiet noisy on the prime

OK, I was thinking if it was a 220 cdi it could be air (o ring failure in the fuel pipes).

Could be the pump, then.
I've got a whole '98 C200 / M111, if you need parts.

What pressure do you have at the rail?

When I take the valve off and squirt it, it sprays to about the wing there's pressure there but my other car shoots a lot further but that's a 230k

Fuel supply issue. Probably blocked filter?

Not seen "wing spray" as an fuel pressure spec before :p. Is the pump running whilst cranking?

I took the pump off mine fitted it and wouldn't start till I primed it 1st it sounded promising but the stalled and wouldn't start again and haha its a good spec to use :p my other car squirt past the wing and I'll have to ask my misses to come out while I crank it as can't really here it while turning over but priming it for some reason sounds really loud louder then my other two I even put more fresh fuel in as car has been sitting a while

I'm going to Parkers tommorow and buy a fuel filter as its a sealed unit I didn't want to take it off the one that's running only swapped the pump itself so could well be filter but won't find out till tomorrow fingers crossed

I don't know if your car has a metal tank but if the cars been sitting around I'd check the outlet from the tank for fuel flow in case there is some restriction.

It's been sitting around 4-5 months mate as I was working on the other one I did have a mechanic called out to it and he said timing chain has stretched but surly not as its low miles 67000 I believe plus it does start after priming I don't know the guy properly so I don't know if he is trying to have me on a new timing chain just to get money out off me if it had stretched would it still start on being primed I still think it's down to fuel as it does run

If it starts and runs with easy start or brake cleaner you can confirm the rest is OK.

It's an M111 - timing chains don't stretch on them as it's a full duplex chain unlike the M271 that superceded it.
