Hi Folks,

This problem has just emerged today, in my 2003 CLK. The engine completely shuts down when i accellerate above around 2700 rpm. Car restarts and runs fine below this RPM. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi my 2003 just started this
Have replaced the fuel filter and air filter, no change.
On a none related issue an RAC engineer said, " disconnect the MAF " car runs ok now, no fault codes and will replace the MAF this weekend.
Cost £15 for a new unit
Thanks RAC Andy

On my 270clk
Renewed the MAF
Revs fine from cold, two hard accelerations and then it shuts at 2700 rpm, this appears like a warm up issue. Currently running with Maf connector fixed to old MAF not in air circuit. Car runs ok due to size of engine but no revs above 3000rpm, so will stay like this.
New air filter
New fuel filter
High pressure pump refurbishment so no more problems with siphon system in tanks, no air leaks into fuel system so starts every time.
Is there a temp sensor for the incoming air after the turbo? Not a coolant issue, the engine does not get time to warm up.
Very specific cut off on the RPM

Don't you think it would be best to have a Merc specific diagnostic test , from an MB Indy or an icarsoft code reader rather than keeping buying parts ? The car is in limp mode and needs the fault codes read .

I have a car specific icarsoft reader and there are no fault codes.
I would not say it is in limp mode
Still does 70mph plus
55 mpg and drives ok, just will not do the kick down after the first couple of times from cold.
So cannot be crank or cam sensors
You are correct about having checked out but funds currently limited
Thanks for any ideas

Hopefully someone will be able to point you in the right direction , but you may be best with a decent MB Indy getting the car on Star to look at the cars live values in more detail than icarsoft can , that may in the hands of a skilled Star user show the problems ?

Clk 200 cabriolet. Same problem. Mid driving engine cuts out no warning no noise.
Fuel tank is in 2 parts under each of the under rear seats. Also has 2 fuel pumps. The loom and mechanism that links the two and signals that 1st tank is empty was faulty. Hence why i had 1 empty tank and 1 full....
