Hi all, wonder if anyone knows the reason for various tick over speeds on my E350 cdi. on start up ticks over at 650rpm, nextime coming to a halt it will be at 750rpm then back to 650rpm. Is this normal, is it performing some operation to increase rpm? Thanks.

Had similar with my CLS , it was down to the battery charge state or load.

If the car thinks the battery is struggling at idle with it's current load it will increase tick over to compensate.

I have a 2010 E350 CDi and mine does this. The idle speed rises when it is doing a DPF regeneration. On mine it rises to about 900 rpm and the gear change happens a lot later than normal.
