Cat stolen

My 89yo mother had the cat stolen from her car earlier this week.The cost was originally £250ish but the garage has just discovered they also ripped out two lambda sensors so the cost has gone up to £520.
It's a 19yo Yaris & probably not worth a lot more but to her it's her freedom.No choice but to leave it on the street but I've advised her to park it on the grass verge in future.
There seems to be an epidemic of cat thefts at the moment,I dread to think how much it'd be for my Merc.

Notice that some manufacturers are now siting the cats up close to the exhaust manifold, or at least in position where they are hard to access easily.
Underbody panels that hide the cat do have their uses after all!
Can't help but feel for 4x4 owners, with their high ground clearance.

Putting the cats high is more about rapid warm up than theft prevention.

Their off-spring would be more retarded than they are. I've never been able to comprehend what makes people think they can just take what others have worked for. I think drug addiction is one of the major causes these days.

Last time I spoke to my brother (30 years ago) he was an addict and thought nothing about stealing from family to feed his habit.

its an attitude thing , like beating up pensioners , some of whom may be the reason why they are alive !! at some point a druggy makes a choice to start on that road ,once on it everything else is fair game and simply a route to their choice/cravings.

My work colleague had his CAT stolen from an old Lexus RX300/400 about 4 weeks ago in Peckham. Cars are all parked on streets.

He's gone through insurance and they advised him that they have had a small increase of such claims. Seems like CAT theft is back on the up again.

Quite stunned at the fact it will take several minutes for thieves to do this yet, its not a quiet/concealed job so amazed that its going un-noticed.

I keep sword by my, if I hear anything like someone trying to steal the GSXR or from my vehicles, I'd be right out and not hold back. If thieves pick on the wrong victim it should be tough sh!t for them! Yet the legal system is happy for the victims to be clubbed to death with their hands tied by the thieves.
