Took it to Hampshire Bowman GTG. It looks like its been on a rally circuit:eek:
Better be dry tomorrow to get the muck off it.
Got some new products I want to use on the paintwork before winter really sets in.
I thought we might need a snorkel on the way back... :p

Fixed my ignition switch, (E220 W212 2012) for the last 18 months I have experienced a problem where the engine continues to run after turning off the ignition, it would stop when I removed the key, however it became progressively worse to the point I could not stop the engine until I pulled a relay in the fuse box. It looked like a very expensive repair, additionally with the need of Mercedes to pair the new switch to the keys etc. Anyway.. after dismantling the ignition switch I found it operates using optical sensors to determine the key positions, one sensor is clearly visible and after cleaning it I was able to stop the engine by removing the key, I blew air through the switch which then cleared the whole problem. I hope this is of use to others who might experience the same fault.

Drove it to Chatsworth today to see the family (brothers 40th), baby decided to projectile vomit twice on the way over, to got there handed gifts over and turned around to come home.
Couple of pictures of the morning bead and calliper shots, just need to get some new Centers as I really didn’t realise how bad these were.

Actually it was all over her car seat, not a drop on the leather, oh and also all over mum, I’ve still not been forgiven for sniggering as she sat there with puke all over

Took the 55 on a short 4day break, it wasn't running well :( been an intermittent problem for over 2 years now
So today I fitted 16 new spark plugs, and discovered one off the plug leads was off  it must have been like this for a long time as the top of the plug was green. Now, no hesitation when driving off from standstill :)
First issue sorted.......

R230 SL500 - oh yeah!
Picked up the car yesterday after it had been in the garage getting the coolant issue resolved - all fine now. Nice to have it back, forgotten how comfortable it is and how quickly it can move when needed!

Hi all. I am still around, we are still going to York; change of job, and various family emergencies have taken their toll on my free time of late. Hope all are well here?

Hi, we were beginning to wonder what had happened to you. I assume from what you are saying you are moving to York ?. That is a lovely part of the UK, we love North Yorkshire and the people there :)

No not York, we aren’t moving. I changed jobs two months ago, along with that and a very vocal 6mth old baby boy sleeping 3 hours per night, that was hard enough. Then there have been other family health issues which have really zapped my free time, all I’ve been able to do is focus inwards of late.

Swap my [now designated "Summer"] alloys for winter ones.

Went from 225/40-R18 Goodyear (F1 Asym3 fronts and Efficient Grip rears) on 18" AMG style III wheels to 205/55R16 Michelin Alpin A4 MO on 16" Pristix alloys.

Got rid of the locking nut too (well, put it in its pretty box).
