Hello.
I'm a new member. After saving up, I bought a new C220d AMG Line Premium last year. While I'm very impressed with the car, I find the seat base extremely uncomfortable.
The angle between the seat base and extending leg support seems to be different and no matter where I place the seat, I get leg ache under my thigh.
Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
Thanks

Hi Ebba, welcome to the forum. :) I don't have the W205, yet, so I can't comment on the seats but that is the first negative I have heard about them. :)

I just realised that when I said 'new', it was new in Jan 18 (sorry, I don't know the W number - it is an estate), so probably not the latest seats?

Yes if it is a 'C' class it will be a W205 for a saloon and an S205 for the estate, that model was introduced in February 2014. :)

I have known several MB cars that I have driven be uncomfy but I think its more down to my body type than the car , enough folk drive models I have criticised and are completely happy , have you got it fully adjusted ??

Growing up my dad had MBs (60s) and they were famous for their uncomfortable (firm) . So nothing has changed.:)

I think so. I have now driven 20k+ miles and tend to fidget with the electric controls on any trip over 30 minutes. The position seems fine and the back rest is very comfortable. It's just the aching under the thighs that's annoying. There appears to be a ridge where the two parts of the base join, which forms a pressure point under my legs.

defo similar to me then , I have slim legs and certain VW cars send my legs to sleep as the seats just aren't suited to my body shape or the way I sit when driving , as it got the lumber support too ?

Does your model extend the base a little ? That can help, usually a flip out

Yes, it has lumbar support.

Yes, the base extends. I have moved it out a little, which did help a bit.

My consternation is that this car, while beautifully designed and crafted, is less comfortable than the Citroen C4 I had while saving up to buy the Merc. In the C4, I could easily drive all day in comfort. The Merc, 30 minutes top.

I see what you mean, MB seats will certainly feel firm after a Citroen. For me being used to MB seats I couldn't travel very far in a Citroen, they are far too squishy for me. I guess it is a matter of getting used to them :)

I’ve not had a problem with seat comfort in any of the Mercedes I’ve had or driven. Had a C250 estate with AMG line seats and drove that for 4 hours plus without issue.

There’s a good video by Reccaro on YouTube about setting up your seat. I set mine that with my shoulders against the seat back the insides of my wrists at full stretch are on the steering wheel rim. I have the seat base supporting my thighs and close enough to the pedals so I can fully depress any of them. Seat height to maintain a comfortable leg position and to be able to see over the wheel.

I’d look at setting the seat up. If you have memory seats you could have a couple of different settings to try over a long distance.

@Ebba Is your overall seating position correct?
Most drivers I see do not have their seats properly adjusted.
There is quite a good guide a couple of paragraphs down on the page linked below.
I agree with @Blobcat that (not clear in point 2 of the article below) you should be able to rest your wrists on the steering at 12 o'clock on the steering with your shoulders back against the seat.

I've done multiple advanced driving courses and the seating position is the first thing they always check.

Thank you everyone. I'll try setting up the seat using the video and see what happens. I haven't seen it before.

Sorry to hear this OP it does take the shine off a vehicle. Last encounter with a seat that just didn’t Support me properly was when my son and I road tested a new 5 series m sport saloon last year, everything was fine for the first half hour but by the time we had been travelling in the car for an hour we were both in agony. In all fairness the BMW dealer did allow us to take the car for a morning which was just as well but unfortunately that one fact lost them the sale which was a shame because the vehicle in all other respects was very good, in contrast the W213 E class seats are excellent. As I recall it was something to do with the seat base bolsters squashing my thighs and nothing could be adjusted to make the seat any better
