Good morning guys, really hoping someone can help.

Was driving the car yesterday, all was fine.
Went to the shop, got back in the car and drove back to the hotel.
Tried to put the car into Park but it now wont go past N. It is stuck in drive, cant take the keys out. Cant get reverse or park.
Someone said about a faulty brake light switch on the brake pedal but there is nothing there.
Due to leave and drive back home shortly but cant.
It's a 2005 clk 220 diesel.
Any help appreciated, thank you

You can prise up the gear lever surround and put a biro down to release the interlock. Probably a faulty gear selector module.

Is that even for old cars like theirs (and mine!)?

YES.

read about the mobilo policy that came with your. lots of threads on it.

I had a faulty sensor a couple of years ago. I needed fo get to the airport. Mobilo came out in Merc van. Car wasnt having it - seanor fault diagnised. Got a taxi to and from airport at MB expense. Of course car has to be repaired with them too.

lets not get off topic and hope the OP is fine.

Not working that mate but thanks.
You may have a mechanical linkage problem underneath the car where something is jambing it, may be worth a look if you can get safely underneath.

Regarding the switch, the brake pedal switch. Nope that’s not it. The one that usually causes problems is inside the car above the pedal itself.

You might need to drop, remove the cover above the pedals before you can see it, get to it.
It is at the top of the pedal arm, easier to see if you are upside down in the foot well

Some W203 were built without external brake switch, apparently this applies to W209 too. Sensor is integrated in brake booster.
