Merc break down cover

Hi , does the merc break down cover only come as part off a service plan or do customers qualify if they book in for a service without a service plan , hope that makes sense , thanks eddie

You only need to have a service at a main dealer to validate the Mobilo breakdown cover. You don't have to have a service plan

Having said that you might (most probably will) get a better deal getting your servicing completed at an Indie and having separate breakdown cover

Go via "topcashback" for your breakdown cove and get ~40% of the premium back after 6-8 months. I've done that for years now and the £60-£70 is always nice to get. I paid £125 this year and just had £62.50 back

If you have just one car you will get breakdown searching on money supermarket or similar for around 60-80 a year that covers the car anywhere in Europe including at your home regardless of driver.

This is a much better deal than paying the RAC/AA 90 pounds to not cover it within 2 miles of your home (where you are most likely to breakdown) and then to charge you another 90 pounds for Europe cover if you want to go to France for 5 days....

Never been bothered with Mobilo even when having MB services.
Trouble is if anything goes wrong with car and Mobilo recovers you, it just goes to the nearest MB dealer and then you have main dealer hourly prices.
I've always been with green flag and of the two occasions we've needed them, they were out to us within 40 minutes and when I needed recovery they took us to a garage we wanted to go to

Thanks for all the reply’s , after doing some maths using the full price rac quote and my local merc specialist £220 for a A service it’s £3 a month dearer getting a 4 year service plan . So I’m thinking of taking out a service plan

If you drive in Europe Mobilo is of course Europe wide.
Whenever I get my car serviced at MB i provide the oil myself (Mobil 1) which is a fraction of the cost MB charge. I also scour ebay for the genuine parts needed for the service and chuck them in the boot. It keeps MB rated right down.
The Mobilo is renewed each service and thats NOT the budget servce they do.

Not all the RAC patrol officers are MB trained. When my car failed to start on a Sunday, they could only get one to me next day. As I was at home it didn't matter but had it been something simple like a tyre, they could get somebody quickly. The guy that came was in a fully liveried MB Van and carried STAR diagnostics which the others don't carry.
