I need to replace two temporary rear tyres on my E220D Bluetec AMG Night Ed (fitted by RAC) does anyone have recommendations - I have looked the MO options for 265/35/R18 - Pirelli PZero and Continental Sport Contact 3. Should I stay with the MO tyres/run flat? or a cheaper alternative

As above.
I use Rainsport 3s on three of my cars and the Falken 510s on the other.
Both are superb in the wet with the Rainsport just edging it for grip. On the other hand the 510s are super quiet.

Thanks to you and LostKiwi - Both tyres get good reviews. The Azenis FK510 appears a great price/performance option.I was concerned that replacements should be with the suffix MO (Mercedes Only) branded tyres but I guess this is probably marketing

Corrected that for you ;)

No need for MO tyres, it just limits your choice

Whoops - thanks
Thanks again for the advice - will probably opt for the Azenis FK510

Forgot to mention - the 510s are on an r230 SL500 so not a low power commuter either, and one of the cars shod with Rainsport 3s is an r129 500SL .
The r230 has historically been very prone to lighting up the rear wheels when turning into a road out of a T junction in the wet but is now much better behaved.

My W204 does the same, hard to put 700 Torques down but the RS3 is excellent

They certainly are. The 129 struggles to unstick them (but it does start in second and is a 4 speed auto).

Interesting to read the views on whether 'MO' rated tyres are worth troubling with. From what I can gather, a majority of the Porsche fraternity advocate sticking to the Porsche marked 'N' specification tyres. These are more than a marketing feature from what I have read. I had always assumed that 'MO' was a similar thing...

Insurance companies are really hot on "N" Rated tyres on Porsches, MB and the like less so.

The Continental SC3 is a joke as they are now no the SC6 so why sell an essentially out of date tyre

Porsche actually test their cars with N Rated tyres. Mercedes merely take the accompanying bung...

I’d not buy a Porsche without N rated tyres on it (shows how the owner has maintained it)

I’ve bought MO rated tyres (have summer and winter ones on now) that was because they were cheaper :D:p

It's this sort of thoroughness that keeps us in the Porsche family.

Another vote Falken FK510 are a great value for money performance tyre. I ran Falkens ZE and FK ranges on all my cars and they should never disappoint.

Other than that I'd say if you can afford it, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (the new performance bench mark) and Goodyear Eagle F1.

Good reading this. I'm contemplating getting a cayenne next year. I have a friend who works at porsche and will sort a decent deal.

Sure is. Its only a "thinking about it stage" tho
They are very cheap to buy... it’s a VW in an expensive dress. The Hybrid is cheap to tax and has a 3.0 V6 in it :D
