Hi,

I wonder if you could help. I have problems with some of my SAMs and other modules causing the following:

- Safe mode, showing abs, bas, esp warning lights. I think due to a rusty rear driveshaft, but because intermittent and usually only when driving in wet weather, can't be sure. ABS sensor was worn and replaced.

- Dim/low level xenon lights, suspect self levelling isn't functioning correctly as can't see lights move up and down upon starting.

- Occasionally gears thump down or up when shifting, been stuck in a particular gear once or twice too. Had to turn off engine, rest and restart to fix.

- When locking or unlocking, indicators flash as if alarm sounding but no noise from siren, have to lock/unlock again to stop

- In summer, warm air sometimes begins to blow randomly when set to cold. Suspect something to do with the sunlight positional sensor.

Where should I start?

A good code reader (iCarsoft MBII) or get it on a STAR and see what is being reported first.

The other option is to randomly throw parts at it until by chance you hit on the right one, which can be wallet draining

And one without the code reder; Check level of tarnsmission oil, change if been driven more than 40000miles, check no oil contamination in transmissionelectric connector and control unit.

has it had a bath?

that many issues shortly after so much rain, worth checking it isn't full of water before you get too enthusiastic about turning it on and pushing power through it

Not unusual for these to need replacing in pairs.
Check reluctor rings on driveshafts and clean with a wire brush if rusty. They can also split and come loose on some vehicles (not sure about W220s).
