Is it manual or electric adjustment?

Will it not move if you help it? On a couple of occasions , the column on my car has stuck (it's set to move up & down as I get in the car) but moving it on the stalk has 'cured' it.

I’d look at taking the cowling off from underneath and see what (if anything) is going on. As it’s electrical it could have damaged teeth in the gears

Mainly Mercedes
I can’t say for the w204, but on the w203 the up/down motor has a small rubber drive link that has been known to break. It’s possible it is the same design. If you get your ear very close can you hear the faint noise of the motor running when you move the joystick?

i used to replace a lot of these when people had comfort access enabled, and hung on the steering wheel to lift themselves out of the seat while the motor was trying to raise the wheel into comfort access position. The part was cheap, but fitting is a big strip

Hello all
Just a quick update
So I called the extended warranty people and was told I need to take the car for a diagnostics to find the true cause before they would take on the claim or in other words if they would pay out
So I booked it in yesterday with a company called mercaid was told £60. +vat for the diagnostic
Got there and he plugged in and for some reason the ****** thing started to working again
So he reset all the stops on my seats and steering wheel and charged me £50 so all in all it worked out great for a change

2016 W205 C220 Estate
Just a follow up with my experience with my 2016 W205 C220 AMG Line Estate.

When selecting up and down I could hear a click but I was never convinced of a mechanical fault given my experience with all of the car's electrical bells and whistles

Initially I went through the menus resetting everything I could.
It started to work again after a restart but I wasn't sure why.

Since then it has failed again and I've found a solution.
To get the adjuster working it seems necessary to reset the driver's seat position and hit the seat memory button. The seat memory button seems key to resetting the steering wheel.

The easy enter/exit mode may also be part of the problem so that was also reset.

I'll let my dealer look at it tomorrow as it's on an extended warranty.
