I've used one of these for as long as I can remember, even dropped it on the concrete floor and cracked the case, but it still works perfectly! Probably had mine for 20 years, and am pleasantly surprised to find it still available, UK supplier, £40+P&P is cheaper than most/all CTEK's!

I’ve 3 CTEK’s and 4 Optimates... all many years old now and stopped me spending fortunes on batteries.

Old neighbour of mine asked if the 911 was electric when they saw the wire... they were edjumacated when I started it on a cold morning :D:p:cool::rolleyes:

I have a 10A Ctek which I've had years and it's excellent.
I also have 2X Maypole 4A chargers which keep the cars in storage topped up and in 3 years no complaints at all - especially for the money!
The only thing about a 4A charger is it takes a goodly while to recharge a battery from flat.

I've only used mine on 968's, which have limited electronics compared to MB's - they do have an OBD port, ECU and TCU, but AFAIK no SAM's or similar. However, this afternoon I connected it to my SLK, straight on to the battery which is a bit of a PITA as the battery hides under a big plastic thing that I think is the air inlet for the AC. OK, it's only 3 plastic connectors to untwist, but I wonder if it would work OK if I used the emergency +ve and top of the suspension instead.

I've used the posts on the suspension turret on the 210 without any issues.

Just be careful That you don’t lose the metal clip that the plastic connector twists into... ask me how I know...

I need to buy a new charger. With these intelligent ones do you need to disconnect the battery or can you charge with everything connected? With my old charger I've always disconnected the battery for fear of damaging something.

No need to disconnect the battery with either a smart/conditioning charger or conventional one.

Just double check the clamps are connected correctly before switching it on.

No, that’s from removing the centre bit of security torx :D

I was cleaning leaves and other detritus from under the bonnet and when I went to redox the battery cover the metal retaining clip went south. It’s now held in place with 1 cable tie and 2 original twist clips.
