Hi everyone, I have reasonably bad back issues and I need to drive 60 miles each way for my commute to work (hopefully just for another 8 months) my new commuter is a clk c209 56reg 2.2 cdi with 7g autobox..... and it has orthopaedic driver and front passenger seats.... these are the ones controlled by 4 switches to the side of the seat pan closest the central console/armrest (photo to follow but sure you guys know what I am talking about). Here is the issue THEY DON'T WORK. Now the bottom on dash above the stereo to set down REAR headrest does not work either. I think I read somewhere that they are on the same circuit or control unit? Anyway clearly I want as much comfort as possible and I AM HOPING THIS IS NOT A COSTLY RESOLUTION but could you help me to fix/troubleshoot the faulty orthopaedic seats. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Marc and welcome. Hope it's something simple, like a fuse. Someone with knowledge will be along shortly, I'm sure.

Aside from a dedicated fuse/s under the bonnet (as on mine) I can't offer any help.
As far as I'm aware though if the drivers seat can't be adjusted it'll fail the MOT. They've always tested my electric seats.

Thanks M80 but unfortunately you have completely mis understood. I have manual seat adjustment with orthopaedic control which is 4 bladders with in the seat that inflate or deflate to suit contours of user via these controls. I have attached a photo of said controls. I would of done of it of my car but away at the moment. Still hoping for someone's previous found solution. Many thanks.

You legend Srdl! I wouldn't of picked up on that thread.... sounds as though it's a common issue to some manual labour called for if I had the time ... that said the thread "on the other side" (dark side?) Has photos which are only accessible as member. Is this a sister forum and login will apply or do I have to register there to access? All the best.

Here are the two photos:

It is a separate registration for that forum but it’s not as good as this one!

You might have an air pipe off or the little compressor has failed

This is always worth checking. Some cars when detecting a leak (r230 for example) will shutdown the pump to prevent the motor burning out.
