Check your micro-switches are all working
This is a heads up for me - I know how to do the emergency roof raise manually on the 968 cab but not on the SLK, something to check when I eventually get it back! at least it fits my garage so if push comes to shove I can put her in the dry until it's sorted!
It is an R230 SL500...The SL500 is now in the dry garage awaiting me to remove the boot lid trim and check out and or dry off any condensation before looking at the switches etc, fingers crossed its not expensive

That ping is one of the most heart stopping sounds a 230 makes...That's what I am hoping too Russell, yes r230. What puzzled me was that I opened the roof, closed it and then opened it again 25 minutes later leaving the car idling for a good further 30 minutes, went to close it and got the ping sound and roof, visit workshop.
