The load cover ones are working BC, will be checking the rest once I get the car in the garage

Check for wet or dirty connections - more than 1 switch is referenced.

This is a heads up for me - I know how to do the emergency roof raise manually on the 968 cab but not on the SLK, something to check when I eventually get it back! at least it fits my garage so if push comes to shove I can put her in the dry until it's sorted!

Enjoy! The R172 is worse!

SL500 (R230)
And the SL is just as bad. Rediculous design decision to make it so complex. :(

The SL500 is now in the dry garage awaiting me to remove the boot lid trim and check out and or dry off any condensation before looking at the switches etc, fingers crossed its not expensive

It is an R230 SL500...

It should (hopefully) just be a dirty or failed switch though

That's what I am hoping too Russell, yes r230. What puzzled me was that I opened the roof, closed it and then opened it again 25 minutes later leaving the car idling for a good further 30 minutes, went to close it and got the ping sound and roof, visit workshop. :(

That ping is one of the most heart stopping sounds a 230 makes...

Removed the inner boot trim cover to find it fairly dry, I did spot this plug that looks like it has a broken lug.

IMG_20191210_143412.jpg

I cleaned it up along with the 2 other micro switch terminals and not forgetting the load cover switch. Tied the main plug with a cable tie

IMG_20191210_145010.jpg

Closed the boot lid, jumped in to the car and proceeded to push the roof switch and this is the end result.......literally :D

IMG_20191210_144940.jpg

Roof is now closed! And I mean closed, for it will not open and the message is visit workshop :(
At least the top is up :)
I decided now is just as good a time to.....
