Hi everyone

Looking for a bit of advice, my recently serviced E250 2010 has started an aggressive high pitched squeal when moving off. It seems to be from the driver side and most likely from the front wheel. The noise seems to correlate with the rotation of the wheel, as I speed up the noise is less constant. The noise disappears completely after about 30 seconds..it won't start again until the car is cold and started again.
It seems the colder the car the louder the squeak.
Braking has no effect on the sound, nor does turning the wheel left or right.
I cleaned the brakes with some Holt fluid and it made no difference.

Last MOT identified front tyre wheel bearing had slight play but nothing picked up by Merc service

Been like this for about 3 weeks, been crazy busy at work so not managed to take it to be seen.

Recorded a voice clip but can't currently upload?

Any ideas?

Hi, i would take it back to whoever serviced it to diagnose, assuming it was not doing this pre service.
If i was guessing i would say something to do with the aux belt system. Lots of pulleys present there and the belt itself ,all of which are more than capable of making a right old racket if something is not right.

As per above, high pitched squeal is normally a belt - aux belt and one of the pulleys

I had the same on a vauxhall and it was the alternator belt. As the belt warmed up it stopped.

My wife asked how much I'd paid for a new EZL (ignition controller) for my 1991 300CE.

My reply?

"Don't ask."

So far, she hasn't!

Keep praying she forgets. Those things are eye wateringly expensive (just like the MAF on the 93-96 V8s...)

Just don't dare question how much your wife spends on hairdressers and the latest essential grooming products. That creaking noise will be the thin ice your standing on.
