I suppose because I'm just casually chucking the odd bit of veg oil in the car from time to time to save a bit of money/get emissions down for MOT or recycling other stuff that it will burn...and I understand in a warm climate with long journeys and an OM603 it should be fine to do that without modification. If I was planning on collecting WVO large scale and using that as my only fuel then I would probably look into it in more detail.

I'm lucky in Valencia, I just filled up with normal diesel for €1,06, that's about 90p a litre...and my driving style gets 50mpg so until they start ramping up the diesel price there is little point in going fully into veg oil or trying to find WVO...
90p per litre! There must be quite the queue of cars coming over from France to fill up every day.

As is 2-EHN , buy both 2-EHN and JASO FB spec 2 Stroke oil which is a low ash mineral in 5L and dose accordingly handily with used 250ml Redex bottles and you have premium diesel but not at the price .
2-EHN is apparently the major ingredient of DPF cleaners.

Not surprised , it's a Cetane booster reducing diesels ignition delay for more complete combustion thus less unburnt fuel molecules = less soot .

Well by the border it's 1.20€ which is just over a pound as the regional pricing varies in Spain - and diesel is cheaper then petrol still. That said there are bigger distances to travel. Though when you get 1km out of any city or town traffic jams don't exist and so you can achieve great mpg and enjoy driving. I can get to the motorway in 4 minutes (living in the 3rd biggest city!) and from there it's possible to stay in 5th gear and not use the brakes until you decide to have a break whichever way you happen to be going.

I had a 1988 golf turbo diesel that I used to run on 100% lidls sunflower oil back when it was 19p litre. Used to buy a whole box then pour each bottle into the fuel tank. Car ran fine but it really stunk behind it.. Was much harder to start in the winter though. Then the price of sunflower oil rose dramatically to the point where diesel was actually cheaper !
Car was sold with 225,000 miles on the clock and it never went wrong.
I have a 1965 Austin diesel (bmc) in my boat, rebuilt in 1980 when it was removed from the J4 van and put in a boat and running perfectly since then . Its had all sorts of nasty fuel put through it yet still runs great. Why add any of these fuel additives as who actually ever wears out a diesel using pump fuel anyway?
