I have had my 2015 C Class for a week now and I seem to have an issue with the auto/manual paddle shift.

I select manual by flipping the paddle and the display shows Mx this shifts up and down ok, but while driving it flips
back into auto showing Dx.

Am I missing something? I can't find anything in the manuals.

I've tried the different agility settings but this makes no difference.

Thanks in anticipation.

I don’t think that it is a permanent change when you use the paddles to come out of auto into Manual.

You should have a button probably near the centre console with an E and S and an M on it with arrows in between.

Pressing this moves the car from Eco to Sport to Manual and to Eco again and should then hold until the car is switched off.

At least that’s how it operates in my 2016 E Coupe?

Do you have that button?

My car has a menu setting to change mode - eco, sport, comfort etc, changing to another mode makes no difference.

You may well be right about it not being a permanent change, I was beginning to think that way, I'm comparing it to my previous Audi where it was.

If mine drops off revs or if I break hardish then rev again etc it automatically goes back into auto

it’s an older type , though but think it would work similar.

Our 2016 A Class did the same. Can’t remember if it had a manual mode though ?. Thought it sort of useful incase “shmbo” touched a paddle, either in anger or by accident.

Not sure how it's supposed to work, but I've found on the odd occasion when using the paddles that the car does stay in M and does not revert to Auto. When I've used the paddles again to try and go from M to Auto, it won't. By accident I've found that a long hold on the paddle will change it back to Auto, so maybe the length of time you hold or press the paddle determines which mode it selects?

The modern auto C class works just like you describe.
You can manually shift gears with the paddles - but it will automatically shift back into auto after about 30 seconds.

Whereas our V class will stay in manual and not revert back to auto. A long hold on the up paddle gets back to auto.
Nothing like keeping things simple or standard eh.

See my post above, I can get mine to stay in manual.

My ML does as Nitecard's C Class. It will go back into Auto by itself a short time later but if I've knocked it down a gear to go down a hill while towing, it'll stay in manual while the gearbox is under load ...... but I also have a button with M on it that keeps the gearbox in manual which I think is part of the off road pack.

Thanks for your comments.

It seems that, for whatever reason, it will switch back to auto by itself, can't see the reasoning but there you go.

My 2017 C300h does the same, goes back in to auto after a short time.
