I have just derived a noticeable pleasure from looking up the MOT history for both of our old AMGs, finding that they are both still going strong.
The 1998 C43 Estate which we sold back in 2008 has now covered 125K miles and passed it's MOT with no advisories just two days ago. Only did a couple of thousand miles in the last year. It was a lovely car which we drove for five years.
The 2003 CLK55 we kept for three years until 2011 when we sold it with 48K miles on the clock. It was also MOT'd this month but has only done 67K miles, so is probably living a pampered life!
Nice to know that they are alive and well.

I can never remember the registration numbers of any of my old cars, I have had my personal registration number for many years now, well over 30 years. I know the current one because the plates are in the shed but then I still have that one :)

I found the bill of sale for the CLK55 in the back of a file. The C43 I remembered somehow, even though the car wore our personal plate the whole time we had it... Can't remember what I did on Friday though!

I can remember the plate of every car I’ve had... even though I’ve put private plates on them for the last 18 years...

Can’t remember some of mine due to private plates as well.

but those I can - most seem dead now on the mot checker...

apart from co car (Volvo s40 2.0d) I had from new in 2005 bought at 4 years and 120k miles - wife had it 3 years didn’t go far..had a major electrical issue that couldn’t be traced by anyone but it’s last mot nearly a year ago had 192k miles... so perhaps it’s past the 200k point and someone has
Managed to get rid of the gremlins or simply lives with its intermittent stopping and possessed wipers :)

My 2009 E class has barely done 10k in the 4 years since I got sold it on 170k or thereabouts...1 mot failure for a dust boot...not bad seems to be sorned most winters too...

My old Primera is still going strong. I check its MOT, cause it always had an oil leak as an advisory even though it never used any oil. Now its done at a different centre its oil leak has disappeared.;););)

I discovered a way of finding current registrations on Mercs can be to put the original number in to get a service quote at the usual address below and it sometimes "corrects" you to show the current number. Putting MV64 etc looked like it would work but a bit of cross checking suggested the car has just changed hands and is now back on its original plate, untaxed but with an MOT

What makes you think I've got too much time on my hands today...

I did this for all my cars back to 1989 recently and yes it was strangely satisfying. Five had died but two including a 60 plate C Class with 132k on the clock were still running.

Annoyingly there's one car right in the middle I can't remember the number for and that keeps niggling me!

There are only a few number plates I can recall, AUL355T is one, I bought this car in '82. 98VC is another, now I still have to look at the cars to say what my reg number is
Oh just remembered another MF55JAU :D Only 1 of these was a Mercedes.

If you can't remember any reg numbers then check your photo album........

None of my really old cars from the 70's are listed - 5680 MT, 382 GOC, 958 JOE, WDA 999, GAB 122C, TBM316J. Company cars from the late 80's to mid nineties are listed but no MOT details - E917GBF Passat, H283THL Cavalier SRI, M817LOH Accord 2.2. I presume these are dead but not officially scrapped..

I always drive mine to the scrappie. But then again I don't pay an extortionate price for comfort and style.

Just checked my old Volvo S70T5.
I sold it in 2007 at 212k miles. Strangely next MOT was 2010 at 89k miles!

My old 101 Ambulance is still going strong at 39 years old but MOT expired October last year (but given its age it could be hibernating for winter). Given its age it won't need one soon.

The 101 GS has passed 40 and had its last MOT in 2018.

Defender 110 still going strong at and 28 years old has a current MOT.

My old 1995 A8 4.2 was last MOTed in 2013 only a year after I sold it. I suspect it may have met a sudden end as it in good order when sold.

Just goes to show old Land Rovers may not be reliable but they soldier on forever!
